  1. Missing Wlat bringing a foursome. I would not miss the opportunity to meet UPitt? What is he charging for autographs? I want to be his agent!

        1. Bringing 2 of them. Excited for the event. I can try for a few more if we need the #’s.

          1. The #’s are good now. Thanks Mark and I look forward to meeting you and your friends.

Remind MajorMajors to tell some of his Pitt baseball stories from the late 60’s & early 70’s – non better than the Roberto Clemente experience.

            H2P!

            1. Will do…. Our Field Trees Field wasn’t improved from the 60’s I bet to the late 90’s. Haha.

  2. See you June 9th Eric the Great. and don’t ask me for my autograph. Too late. 🙂 Plus, It’s obvious I can’t spell my three letter name. thanks iek..

Reed, I can’t tell you enough how I enjoy the podcast’s, little late listening today, the wife and I took a drive and visited some grave sites. Deplorable condition which I suppose is from the constant rain we’ve experienced in WPA recently.

I’m a big google map guy so I looked up Fort AP Hill. It is huge. Here’s a tip, I bought this portable car charger that is wonderful. “The Halo Bolt” It will start your car in an emergency and comes with a bright flashlight, a 110 volt plug that will light all kind of devices built right in. Get the one that the most updated. It’s about 6 inches long. Look into it.

I do hope the PITT/psu game is a game-day pick. PITT does need some good press for once.

Love your not in my backyard views on problem players looking to transfer to PITT. You’re all for it if they go somewhere the hell else. I can see that.

Last gameday game vs ND at Heinz I saw Harry Ratzenbegher huffing and puffing looking near death. Everyone yelling out to him “Hey Norm” He kept on chugging like the little fat engine that could..

  3. Sounds a lot like the panic that set in when the BIG rumor was Heather went on vacation. Oh, that’s right, it never happened. You guys keep rolling, I’ll sit here and wait…

    1. Reed,
REALLY enjoyed the podcast!!! You could do a late night radio show – you’re a natural with a soothing melodic voice – who also knows what he’s talking about! Great combination Commander.

  5. Well it sure sounds like many of you are having your fun 3 1/2 months away from the first PITT football game. I don’t want to get in the way of the PITTy party. (get it) I get the fact I can go out on some thin limbs and I take the heat for it sometimes. I’m sure I’ll get it this coming season as well if the season goes south. and I’ll take that ride with them……….. and ….. also, very much like the Heather vacation non story. Be prepared to take it back as well….

  6. I was going to post about how much fun Fran, Rick Caldwell, Richman and I had at the Pitt Golf Event, but I can’t seem to post a longer post.

    Go Pitt.

    1. Any thoughts from the PITT guys as to how they feel the PITT football program is progressing?

      1. ike — pretty much heard what some, if not most of us on here, think or speculate. That is, the OL is suspect; the DL is going to be improved; the defense will be more aggressive and better…

And on defense, keep one eye on Ford and the other eye on somebody named Wirginis…

        Go Pitt.

  8. The POV foursome shot a respectable 64. We missed a few very makeable birdie putts. The winners were at 61.

    Very enjoyable day.

    1. ike — Was a beautiful day up in your neck of the woods. Champion Lakes was in nice shape and is a fun course to play.

And Dick Groat didn’t give us hell for anything…😊

  10. Quick Query: Will this be Capel’s first recruiting class when we talk about it or does this one not count, similar to the no count of Narduzzi.

I am not arguing a point one way or the other. I just think it will be interesting to see if the crew gives Capel a first year recruiting pass, when they haven’t given the same to Narduzzi…..in my opinion.

Also, Capel hasn’t done anything yet, has he? There was a lot of early momentum, but it seems to have tapered off. Hopefully he can get one more to change grade classification to 2018.

  12. Grew up playing Champion Lakes regularly. Very much looking forward to playing there again, and seeing the POV crew. Also very much interested in competing for the FRANKCAN trophy.

  13. Don’t disagree Huff but remember. Capel is in the same kind of late season recruiting dilemma as Narduzzi faced his first year. PITT BB was 0 for the ACC last year. A big hurdle to overcome.

  14. Champion Lakes is a nice, quality track. One of my favorites! If I remember correctly, a scramble is the best way to go because if you spray it, you find the shade of big trees, quickly.

It’s been about 20 years since I played the course. I am sure the trees got bigger……. my power fade (slice) certainly has!

Good luck fellas. Wish I could join you there. Maybe the schedule clears a little.

  15. Well I think getting Pitt’s highest rated 4 star recruit (McGowans) since when…who ? Is more than not doing anything yet. Don’t you agree ? And he got him to commit to Pitt without even visiting the campus.

And he also recruited a very highly rated PG(X-Man), who is a 4 star by ESPN. Again nothing I suppose

Getting two pretty highly rated kids to commit to the train wreck which was Pitt as late as March is pretty good. Or maybe it’s nothing at all

    Like

  16. @Emel – Yes, he did get a 4 star and a 3 star, but he also lost a few that were already here. I didn’t type that he was terrible. I did type that I also hope that he can get another recruit to re-classify to 2018. The pickings are slim and he also agreed not to go after certain Duke recruits.

I couldn’t be happier that our AD whiffed on her first hire attempt with the bball coach. I think you took the comment wrong emel, but the point for clarification is the same. Based on where the team is today, it it improved, about the same, or worse off? Perception is better off, but are we as of TODAY?

So do we have a net gain or net loss for the squad (not the coaching staff) this year?

I do think we will get more and better recruits next year. I also think he shouldn’t waste schollies on borderline players this year and sacrifice a big haul next year.

I am going to try my best to make it in…..would be great to see you all.

    1. Well my feelings on the players that left are well documented. Good riddance, as I never thought and many agreed on here that any of them were D1 ACC caliber players.

One ended up at a middling (at best) Bigjoke program and the other at Tenn-Martin where his father coaches. There’s an overachiever there eh. Go back where your father is guaranteed to start you.
Lex, who cares, another player who built his stats against rent-a-wins and I can’t even remember who else left. Another nobody no doubt, since a nobody like Otis recruited him on his Pitt retirement plan.

  17. Pitt finished number 36 tied with Ariz. St. according to Rivals rating service . They finished ahead of the following teams .Wisconsin Utah Iowa Cal. Wash St. GA Tech Arizona Boise St. S.Fla Northwestern Stanford Oregon St. Central Fla. Texas Tech and BYU.. Salahuddin was rated the number 5 all purpose running back. Patti the 20th rated pro style. quarterback. They could have done worse.Anyone agree?

    1. I agree fred. Today I’m on Nard Dog’s bandwagon. His recruiting hasn’t been great, nor has it been awful. It’s all still subject to change, based on how some of these players….pan out. Hopefully good.

    1. Walt is a great guy, he never had his head up his butt even when coaching. Or maybe it was just me.
I guess I did tower over him and the leather trench coat might have had him take notice. You don’t fook with Emel. 🙂

  19. Fred – I agree, but I also agree with others that say recruiting should be better. Recruiting is a tough business, and Pitt has lost several 4* players to attrition recently. Not only are we losing 4* prospects in the recruiting battles to other schools, we then lose 4* players that we land in the development stage.

I’m of the belief that we have built the best depth at Pitt in maybe the last 20 years and this is the year Duzz sees the fruits of his efforts. With the final two scholarships left to fill, I’m hoping for grad transfers – one TE and one OL. Two former 4* OLineman on the move from ‘Bama and one from tOSU.

Looks Lyke the POV Golf Outing will have 23 golfers and 3 non-golfers (dinner participants). That’s one more (on total) than last year.

    H2P!

    1. Nitters will probably end up with two-three 5 stars and around ten 4 stars when all is said and done.
Pitt will be lucky to get one 4 star
Theres a reason why Penn State wins 10-11 games every year
