The problem with only passing when you have to is twofold. 1)the defense knows you’re throwing and 2)your receivers have zero rhythm since they’ve been doing nothing but blocking.
Underwood and Cig are coaching upgrades.
Better than Marian and the ol’ Whiparoo.
Coach Pat even said so.
And you can really see the upgrades in today’s game.
What game are you watching Gasman? The offensive play is a total downgrade. Not only that, but we clearly have the personnel to run Cigs game plans, yet still fail with the exception of IA. Also, who care what Narduzzi says or doesn’t say about his offense. He’s a defense guy and his deference to OC is uncanny.
I know it’s pathetic how many people are here. The few people in my section were all given tickets by fiends or neighbors.
There is no reason to waste a day like today if you are a casual fan. This is ska Terrible, boring team that makes the same mistakes over and over and over again. The QB is god awful and that’s nothing new.
As a side note, I still throw up in my mouth a little watching AJ Woods. Watch in person- always out of position, always run right past by the receiver and can anticipate breaks. Lots of tackles grabbing receivers from behind. He’s a mess to watch in person. If that is the best we have the recruiting is worse than we thought. This is not new. Every game, all year.
Slovis is so worried about what he’s going to do with the ball EVERY possession that he fails to see the bigger picture. He’ll never pick up on all his reads
see….when Pitt goes ‘hurry-up’…..Slovis is much much better. 71 yards passing on that drive alone. Even with several drops.
This is mostly on Cigs and his ancient offense…..imo
Exactly what I told my wife would happen on that drive because Cignetti could not run his offense with so little time left. Wife thinks I’m a genius now.
Thing about Cigs…you look at his last 20 years coaching…..he doesn’t stay anywhere very long. His longest stint going back to 2002 at Fresno State. Most of his stops are for 1 to 2 years.
In fact…the guy in the last 20 years…has had six….one year stops as an OC and/or QB coach.
That says much. Another 3 stops with only 2 years. This guy should rack up quite a few frequent flyer miles and Reward points !
Duke content to sit back and let Pitt destroy themselves with penaltys and Slovis picks and there’s another one. But Duzz has to show us all how smart he is staying w Slovis!!! What an ass!
We are all Pitt fans or we would not be watching and commenting, so I will say what I believe most of are thinking……. Pitt is really bad and we have no hope with this coaching staff to get better. Game after game we are making dumb mistakes, stupid turnovers and it is rinse and repeat BORING. Slovis is not a P5 QB. I hate being negative but I don’t see how things will change with this coaching staff. I expect more decommits and a bottom of the weak ACC future.
31 from Pitt asleep as receiver runs right by him for a TD but drops the ball!! Good break. Pitt’s “midget on an island secondary” almost strikes again!
Pitt might win, but Duke is beating itself. Duzzi will be smiling and nothing will change. I am going to get ahead of myself here because as screwed up as the U is this year I think we are going to get blasted. So, we end up 7- 5 playing a MAC team and that is our level. We are really a MAC team. 😖😖
That Duke TD was on the same play 3 other teams have scored against Pitt with the exact same mistake by 31. Duke runs a wheel route out of the backfield and 31 comes up for the stop as the receiver runs right past him for a wide open TD. Good to see we learn from our mistakes… Not!!
Wow, almost another interception. How can a paid wide receiver not look for a pass, even if you are the decoy route? Indicates very very bad coaching. Awful.
Slovis with another God awful throw should have been picked. I would not let him throw again. But I’m not a brilliant coach like Duzz.
Anyone else see doom coming??
I think that offensive series summed up the lack of execution and coaching blunders of the entire season. Why snap the ball with the clock running and double digits on the play clock and continue to throw into double coverage?
We are snatching a loss from the jaws of victory, we are inept in all phases of the game. I’m out, going to the beach to enjoy our warm weather in sunny Florida today. Take care all.
#7 had no discipline on the td as he followed a wide receiver into the end zone, leaving a trail route wide open. Why trail the wr when you have a full compliment of db’s already defending in the endzone. But, in Pitt fashion, #7 makes a stellar tackle on the 2pt conversion.
Big review coming in the Michigan game. I think they called the big10 commish and they have to allow it…..
What are the chances two teams in the Top 4 in week 12 ending their games on basically walk-off FG’s to win. Michigan’s QB played ala Slovis 18 of 34, 0 TD’s, Danny DeVito was better.
One of few times when the better QB loses.
Probably Slovis’ poorest performances and the defensive and special team lapses were disgusting. Very lucky to get a W.
Extremely hard to watch even for a well seasoned Pitt fan.
Slovis has not gotten better since the first game. He locks on receiver and either forces it or runs to the sideline and throws out of bounds.
They gave him a chance to pass second half and he’s failed
Ok so Pitt got the ball with 3:32 to go in the game at the Pitt 37. You only need a couple first
downs to run the clock out. You have one of the NATION’s TOP RB’s in the country that averages almost 6 yards a carry.
And you have him on the bench. You put a guy(C’Bo) in that hasn’t carried the ball all game.
Makes absolutely no sense at all ! (was he hurt, was Hammond hurt, ONLY way that could happen with C’Bo choice)
No wonder why Potato Paulie got fired. Wisconsin has a dreadful QB too.
Graham Mertz was 8 of 18 today for 83 yards, 1 TD & 1 INT. in a last second win (15-14) over woeful Nebraska who also has a terrible QB, Texas transfer Casey Thompson who was 12 of 20 for 106 yds. No Whipple magic in Nebraska. So there are worse QB’s than Slowis out there. lol
Has Nick Patti qualified for disability?
What about Medicare?
And as for Nate….did he get caught with a coach’s daughter?
And the kid from Dartmouth…what’s wrong with him?
If Slovis is our ONLY option, then this passing fiasco is squarely on Pat’s recruiting shoulders.
Can’t wait till next year.
And did Grandpa Junko help with Coach Pat’s extension?
Did he drive Pat’s kids to school on inclement days?
Pool maintenance, perhaps?
And while I respect his forty year commitment to Pitt, his grandson is the worst punter we have ever had…And, didn’t he on-side’s kick when he wasn’t instructed to do so earlier this season?
Pitt’s defensive backfield need 3 Stooge Uni’s…..D can be great most all the game…..but you always know….the 3 or in this case 4 Stooges are lurking back there.
And it’s been like that for like 40 years. it’s really amazing !
I’m not sure I have ever felt this badly after a Pitt win. I’m trying to process this reality because as much as I care about Pitt football I can’t bs myself. If I don’t feel good after a win, why do I want to remain a fan.
And don’t blame me for being disloyal. I don’t feel good about how I feel. But I don’t bs myself. That maxim is more important to me than being loyal to an entertainment vehicle.
I really feel Patti should be the number 1 QB in practice. So what if we lose to Miami. At least we will have moved on from Slovis.
P.S. I don’t think Slovis is slow footed. He’s not fast but he’s not really slow either. I won’t reiterate why Slovis isn’t good because you all know why he’s not; it’s just not that he is slow.
Funniest moment that I saw in the second half. When the 3rd Q concluded and Slovis walked toward the Pitt sideline and Narduzzi gave him a big bear hug. I’m guessing that wasfor a job well done in the 3rd Q, Yikes!
It’s up to Slowvis to find his Addison. He is missing his RB outlet, he is missing Bart. He continuously throws into multiple defender coverage. He is an absolute liability to this team. I’d rather see the Redshirt Freshman Yarnell hit receivers make his reads and lose than watch the Slowvis dumpster fire. Hell. We won today and no one is happy.
Answer: Slowvis. Can’t hit him in stride. Doesn’t see him when he’s wide open. Throws at his cleats. Bart got in his face hard after he finally got a ball to him. All on Slovis. Sorry
Slowvis was very bad but Means and Slumpfield match the ineptitude
punter beats them all
but what about the Duke coach going for 2 to make it a 6 point instead of 8 point game – I can’t even imagine if Duzz did that how he’d be murdered here and deserve it
Back from game and fingers finally thawed out enough to jot down a few thoughts:
1) If I didn’t know better I’d say the Duzz owes something to the Youngstown wise guys. No other way to explain these coaching decisions.
2) If this was a high school game I’d say the reason he’s playing is he’s the president of the school boards kid.
3) Duzz seems to have no problem yanking his punters after a bad play.
4) If you stick up for Cignetti you’re related.
5) I actually, honestly feel bad for Slovis. I don’t think he’s horrible, I just think he is very average and the play calls do him no favors. Seriously, this one I mean.
6) Wayne May be frustrating but he is by far, by far the best we have.
6) Scored some Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, and Blanton’s as I was ar State Store when truck came in. I’d tell you I’m going to do some damage to that inventory, but this was just a typical game for a Pitt fan, so why waste good stuff?
I think it’s beyond clear that Patti should start against Miami. Slovis gives us nothing and finally Narduzzi should realize this. If I were Narduzzi for purely selfish reasons I would start Patti next week.
Even Billy Hillgrove sounded down after this one…. Speaks volumes.
Thank goodness for Ben Sauls – and to think he’s the second best place-kicker on the team. 😊. I think I heard Sauls has made 11 of his last 12 FGs…
Pitt’s Senior Day stuff is totally embarrassing. As the seniors were announced and when out to their parents, there may have been more pigeons in the stadium than Pitt fans…. Pitt needs to rethink this…
I got to the point where I didn’t care about the outcome – I just wanted the game to be over…
BTW, Patti ran out with the seniors; Slovis didn’t. As of now, we won’t have on next season’s roster a QB who can add an element of running/escape-ability to an offense that badly needs it…
I had Hillgrove and Bostick on down here in NC… they were not treated to a good day and it was reflected in their commentary and demeanor… A lot like Sunny and Sam when the Redskins were playing terrible football
Seriously, Pitt just beat a team they should have NOT beaten and we need to wait to see how we feel about it until we hear what the game play-by-play guy has to say?
Both of the Slovis interceptions looked like bad route running, and Means looked ridiculous on the crossing pass pattern where he didn’t know he was the target. Wayne had some drops as did Bart. These receivers are not helping Slovis..
It’s very similar to Pickett’s two seasons with 13 TD’s and 9 interceptions each season.
Lot’s of dropped passes, bad route running, bad communication, Pickett was horrible on deep throws until his final season, whether that also on the WR’s or what…but he was horrible.
Many were hoping he didn’t come back for a final season either.
Cignetti is the worst OC in college football.
You saw what Slovis could do when pass plays are called on the drive to end the first half.
How many 3rd and longs did Cignetti run or call a screen or short pass. The guy is a moron.
Which would be why Cigs has had SIX ……ONE YEAR tenures at schools/teams for one year as OC and or QB coach…..and another three stops….for just 2 years each, in just the last 20 years.
Somebody mentioned BC……well Hafley is still there, so is Jurkovic….why isn’t Cigs, if he was so great there. WHY why why….was he all those places for 1 year ONLY ???
Slovis had 2 excellent years of his 3 at USC. Year 3…heck the Head Coach(Clay Helton) got fired before Game 3 of the season. One of those years Slowis was 1st team All Pac 12 QB.
The other year he threw 30 TD passes.
So I don’t know….look at Cigs….look at Slovis’s….
Let’s see what kind of reasoning ability you have. lol
I have never seen as many unforced errors in one game especially one that was won.
If Pitt didn’t shoot itself in the foot constantly it might be a pretty good team.
We gotta hope Clemson besides crushing Tug U on the scoreboard….40-10.
Also pounded them physically today…..as Miami is always a tough game, especially
down there….and they need 1 win to become Toilet Bowl eligible.
Their QB’s were horrid today…..the starter was 6 of 13 for 53 yards. Another one worse than Slovis. Dick Van Dyke better not play……..
Problem is that a key factor for Clemson today was their QB faking a handoff and running the ball. At one point he had 10 carries and was averaging over 5 yards per carry. Miami won’t have that to worry about next week – unless we run the wildcat all day, but then they won’t have to worry about a pass…
Miami will be tough – they will not be mailing it in, as many will want to claim. When everything is on tape – athletes like these will not give up the chance to make plays.
Pitt surprised me twice today. Didn’t think we’d beat Duke. And now I see that the women’s BB team beat Duquesne rather handily 61-45.
The 6-foot tall forward/center Liatu King was the unquestioned player-of-the-game for Pitt. She shot 10 for 17, scored 25 points, and pulled down 11 rebounds. What a line…
I thought the Dukes would be a much tougher test for Pitt, but the Dukes only shot 26% to Pitt’s 42%…
The women’s basketball coach is making much better progress than most of us on this site give him credit. I have no trouble giving him three more years.
It is the men’s basketball coach that I have a problem with, even with his “great” recruiting class for next year. Unless these recruits can coach themselves, they will not be staying around Pitt for more than one or two seasons.
So did Pitt – but our offensive play calling allowed the UNC O to gain momentum that the Panther D had no answer for. Almost happened again yesterday vs Duke.
Tennessee lost to South Carolina too. Clemson needs to pound South Carolina, but I’m afraid their one dimensional O will struggle against the Gamechicks.
Pitt wins but we have to thank the Duke head coach for the win. If he had not gone for the two points when he was down by 8 then there is no way Pitt wins this game! Pitt was like a gassed fighter barely on his feet at the end of the game.
Patti can still come back next year if Slovis goes to the NFL as promised to us by all those “EXPERTS” at the beginning of the season:)
Just finished watching the Pitt-Duke game.
Butt ugly.
I imagine it must be tough for the kids who were also on last year’s squad to go through a year where self-inflicted mistakes have cost them a chance at another special season. I say that because its been tough to watch at times.
A bad overall performance and yet the Panthers win, despite themselves.
In case you are wondering what happened to the Pitt women’s volleyball team yesterday, it is very simple. They got their “clocks cleaned” by Louisville. Coach Fisher is not very happy. There were a multitude of problems starting with serve receive, poor passing, communications breakdowns, etc. One also has to give Louisville credit, they came to play whereas Pitt did not. Pitt got off to a very poor start and never got on track. Very, very disappointed in the way Pitt played. They picked a poor time to play their worst match of the season.
Pitt needs to regroup in time for the match against Georgia Tech on Wednesday. If they play like they did against Louisville, they will get beat again. If that happens, they may not make it to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA tournament as they will draw on of the better teams for their second game of the tournament. I doubt losing to Georgia Tech would mean not hosting the first round, but it may.
Pitt needs to win their last two match to share the ACC title with Louisville.
Thank you for your review. I watched in awe as Pitt was beaten in every phase. One detail I noticed over and over is that Louisville was peppering our 4 defensive corners with successful shots. They always seemed to be uncovered. Was that a flaw if the defense we were playing??
What a job by Fran, Wolfe, JoeL’s family and all who contributed to the tailgates this season. You guys are totally awesome.
Nailing down the POV tailgate location 5 hours before kickoff! Every game! Early this morning the temps were probably in the teens. So much work to set up and tear down. And the awesome food and drinks.
He is a difference maker and truly missed at Pitt. Regardless of what people think of the young man, I believe he saw a different Slovis and Cig than what King Pat sees and is convincing himself he sees.
I’m convinced it was a tough choice, but probably the right one.
I’ll continue to root against USC (U if Stinkin Cheaters) but admire what JA3 does – I don’t want him winning any awards this season, but I want my favorite NFL team to pick him in the 1st round of the draft.
And yes much thanks to Fran and his tailgate team for this seasons debachery. Always a good time to visit 5A and engage in conversation and of course eating and much drinking. I hope the tradition continues long after our sun goes super nova. ☀️
Whoever said Slovis was “average”, I’d take that in a heartbeat…since his concussion, he has been way below average, and wasn’t exactly a Heisman front runner before. If we had Duke’s QB, we might be undefeated and staring at a national title, no joke. Why does Duke get a QB so much better than Pitt’s?! For all who said KP didn’t look good until his last year — not true…he looked good to very good much of the time but the rest of the team was pretty mediocre, or the OC was either asking too much or too little from him. He got better but you saw the ability there beforehand, for sure. Slovis, since his concussion, looks like a 3rd stringer, at best…endlessly off-target or forcing passes into heavy coverage.
Slovis only had 6 quarters of action before he got hit vs Tennessee…I doubt getting his “bell rung” has led to the consistent bad play we have seen from him this year. He became a bench-warmer at USC for his play- which went down hill and he was relegated to the bench…Nard brings him to PITT with all the accolades…yep, we all see how that’s worked out. Time for Slovis to move on ….YOU AIN’T GOING NOWHERE (no NFL)
And what does that say about Narduzzi and the coaching staff? He is willing to take a bench warmer that has declining results and hand them the keys to the executive bathroom. You didn’t see any other P5 programs beating down his door.
I said this after the spring game – Patti out performed Slovis and it wasn’t even close. Narduzzi is far to loyal to his own decisions, people, etc. it blinds him. In sports you have to be able to move quickly when play slips. Slovis should have been pulled on many occasions this year and not once did it happen. Even for a series.
I watched most of the Carolina_GT game. The Jackets won by applying unrelenting pressure on Drake Maye…just a dominating performance by the whole GT “D”…Who was supposed to have the best D in the ACC, most experience returning, the sack machine in ’20 and 21′ ? GT used their 2nd and 3rd string QB’s (imagine that)…man, I feel bad for Nick Patti…
Wouldn’t surprise me one bit next week if the Hurricanes “set the tone” for 2023 by putting one on Nard-dog. Miami 21 Nard’s crew 16.
One sack for our anointed D yesterday in support of the anointed King.
The #17 ranked Pitt wrestling team beat #13 Lehigh (who is coached by former Panther great Pat Santoro…sp). Good bounce-back win after losing to unranked MD on Friday night.
Pitt offense in the 4th Q totaled 8 yards. All year long I was hoping that our opponents QB’s played for Pitt instead of Slovis except for the WMU QB. Nothing has changed on that front. I’d tell Slovis(won’t happen with Narduzzi) that Patti will start next week with Yarnell as my backup and you will be 3rd in line. Hopefully that would convince him to seek greener pastures for next season if he wants to play FB.
I heard a few season ticket holders yesterday seated near me express they don’t want to renew if it is going to be the Slovis & Cig Show next season. Most of them ended up leaving when the students did because they knew the O was done for the day and they were right. Oy vey!
Mrs. Erie likes the tailgating (as do I) and the warmth of club seats. I’ll have a hard time bailing on King Pat, if for no other reason but to avoid disappointing Mrs. Erie.
I think my season tix this year was a one and done. I’ll just buy club seats from the secondary market and suffer in comfort. Thanks for the friendship and see you in 5A next year.
The poor decision making by Slovis is obvious an almost cost the game, but the defensive and special teams lapses were just as awful. When you add the penalties it makes it inexplicable that the game was won. Except that Pitt benefitted from some really strong play when they weren’t screwing up and Dukes special teams were as bad as Pitt’s and they did drop a touchdown pass.
Slovis is good for one nice touchdown drive per game, but with Izzy’s brilliance that is not nearly enough.
Slovis’ difficulties are made much worse by his receiver’s limited abilities. If that was Addison instead of Mumpfield, he catches that miss in the endzone and also breaks some of those short passes for long gains with probably an additional touchdown. But it also sad how many open receivers he overlooks and bad choices he makes.
It is really hard for me to discern how much of the poor offense is due to Cig’s play calling vs. extremely poor execution by Slovis and the receivers. It has looked like the O-line has done a much better job in the last three games.
How does a corner not get covered and blocks a punt without anyone noticing or a Duke receiver get wide open down the middle without a defender falling down?
How does Pitt win this game?
A few critical plays, the Duke fumble, the Duke muffed punt, the Duke touchdown drop, the Duke decision to go for two, the one good drive, some good defense for the first three quarters, Izzy Abanikanda.
In my experience, you have to be signed into WP. The other problem I experienced is when I like a comment that already has likes. I have a tendency to click on the “by X persons/people”. Need to click on Like.
The offense is not scoring points. Especially in the second half of games. Say what you want about play calling, but the QB is responsible for executing the plays and Slovis has shown he is not able to do so. It doesn’t even appear that he he gets after people in the huddle or sidelines for not executing properly. It can and should be done in a positive manner, I just don’t see it at all.
OT: How about South Carolina scoring 63 against Tennessee last night in a 63 to 38 win. I’ll the Tennessee blogs are lit up all day today with positive comments. :-).
–Boy do I miss Cal Adomitis. Seemed like every long snap was quick and on target. If a Cal snap went thru a punter’s hands, the punter would have a bruised sternum…
—Apparently it was Devonshire who messed up when that receiver was left uncovered for the long gainer along the sidelines. After the play, Devonshire was standing on the field with both hands on his helmet and other players were consoling him…
—Speaking of the sidelines, Pitt had two of those large heaters next to the benches and there were 8 or 9 players gathered at each one. A guy I noticed constantly there was the frosh WR from TX, Che. He must of been wondering what the heck he was doing up north…
—And for those who wonder why Pitt, or why Duzzer, can’t recruit a bunch of 4-stars, all you had to do was be at yesterday’s game. The atmosphere? What atmosphere. A bunch of fans clapping with gloves on doesn’t help. I hope there weren’t any recruits there…
Your last paragraph: those seeds were planted in 1938 by Chancellor Bowman then permanent damaged by Posvar in 1982. The university never cared about having pageantry on its campus for football, so how can a following being built?
I did not change anything with app or with either of the tick boxes that state “Notify me of new posts vea email.” or Notify me of new posts on web and WP App via notificaitons”
Are you receiving notifications in both emails and the little “bell” in upper right corner?
I get notifications in the “bell” for every comment in an article I write, replies to any comment I make, and likes of my comments but I do not get emails except for “Likes”.
My suggestion, click on the “bell”. Dropdown window will appear. Under the term likes is a cog – click on it. This will take you to a notification window. Look for the “bell” in upper left. see if it says browser notification disabled. If it doesn’t there should be a button on right to turn it off. Make sure you save new setting located at bottom left,
I am assuming this is how to correct your problem. Not positive but I have an inquiring mind and looked for anything I could to resolve your problem. I am not a wordpress expert.
So, if your computer blows up, it’s been nice reading your comments.
Mark it down. Slovis will be the starter next year if he isn’t run off by fans and bloggers. Any other starter would experience a year like this one. Narduzzi is hoping for Pickett like improvement next year.
Ok this year has been a Pitt mess so, what happens next year when we need to hire a search firm to find a QB who is willing to be pummeled behind a weak OLine and have no receivers to throw to. Cignetti is not going to light up the lights on Broadway to attract a decent QB at this late date. Portal transfer from Weber State, UT Martin, Shippensberg or Brown (to sit on the bench). Negative thought yes, I don’t really care too much about the upcoming Miami game because it is meaningless…if we win so what—we might get a bowl against a lower ranked Big 10, 12, 14 team so what!! 2023 with a schedule from He– agreed to by Mrs. Lyke is going to be beyond ugly. If Slovis decides to come back instead of using his graduate degree to get on with his life (NO FOOTBALL LIFE) will he suddenly become a decent QB??
Negative thoughts//YES, but the real truth is that I think I am being realistic about our prospects to be battling it out with BC for the bottom of the ACC next year.
someone please start another thread and hopefully this bombardment can end
in no particular order I can’t stand Slow, Cig, WordPress, Means, Crumplefield, the pigheaded Duzz, our punting misfits, the wimpy press for not asking tougher questions, the vaunted d-line that barely touched Maye, the vaunted o-line returning, theD overall having progressed to allow only about 4 instances of wide open receivers to keep Duke in the game, the dropsy receivers, our penalty prone team, and gd WordPress again!
damn I would have been conflicted if Jordan Moore threw or ran for the game tying 2 point conversion
why the hell can’t I post pictures here in the comments any more? to hell with WP
btw, it was fun celebrating GT’s away win at UNC with a 3rd stringer QB who actually has PROGRESSED through this year as opposed to our savior SlowQBis(7 TD, 8 INT!!!)
Slovis has played enough games to not make these poor decisions and KP had his legs to bail him out when guys didn’t get open or the line broke down. KP’s biggest improvement was being able to throw on the run which really improved over time. But the biggest improvemrnt was having Addison to throw to. He got open and made those tough catches, also Addison was the best YAC guy since Tyler Boyd.
I remember Means looking slow on a jet sweep. Not sure why Che isn’t seeing time on a play like that. Another receiver who cannot be trusted? Barden enters the portal five minutes after the Miami game or sticks around for the bowl gift bag?
Yeah it was Bub Means. Terrible transfer. Needs to leave. Not sure why he’s even on the field. I bet there is a walk-on WR that would give more heart, effort and attention to detail.
Sad thoughts. Addison made the right decision if you think about it. Miami will win because they want 6 wins and a bowl. At 7 -5 we probably go to NY or Boston to play in the snow or worst yet Detroit.
Does coaching really matter? Lowly Columbia University the doormats of the Ivy League have now had winning seasons in 4 out of the last 5 years under the great Al Bagnoli. Academics unsurpassed., however, football was awful. Bagnoli has been able to recruit, teach and have effective play calling to make the Lions “Roar Lion Roar”. Coaching is everything…right Duzzi?
That’s in Dallas. I’m south of Arlington in mansfield. About 12 miles away from Jerry’s Death Star. Looks like a very nice complex. We don’t have anything like that here but we do have a real nice hockey rink complex.
I can’t believe (unless I missed it) there’s no mention of Calija Kancy’s injury. Playing the 4th quarter without him and Haba started to rear its ugly head late game..
Well, golly gee, here’s what can happen if you are a HC who has the guts (and brains) to fire your OC mid-season. From The Athletic:
“Things were looking grim for second-year Boise State coach Andy Avalos back when the Broncos lost 27-10 at UTEP in Week 4 to start 2-2. After that game he made a change at offensive coordinator, elevating former Boise, Arizona State and NFL head coach Dirk Koetter. The Broncos (8-3, 7-0 MWC) have only lost once since, and on Saturday clinched their division with a 20-17 win at Wyoming (7-4, 5-2). “
Kancy hurt…no update, of course.
Dayon Hayes played…charges dropped?
Bardon, who showed promise, again didn’t see the field.
Blown coverages.
Stupid penalties.
Another extension coming?
For Heinz field, I mean acrisure stadium. Pitt will strike a lifetime lease. So when the Steelers decide to build a new stadium in moon or cranberry, Pitt will be stuck as the only tenant and be on the hook for all the maintenance. That’s the extension.
Sorry to say, but at this point, Kenny Pickett looks like he’s headed to becoming an AVERAGE NFL starting quarterback at BEST.
Now, that’s better than what I thought and a WHOLE lot better than what the majority of the Posters here thought prior to last year’s magical ride to an ACC Championship.
However, I’m going to give him the benefit of a doubt. Think it is only fair to wait and see what he can actually do when he has an Offensive Coordinator calling the shots other than Mr. Smoke ‘n Mirrors.
If the line doesn’t improve, along with receiver speed and the coaching around him, Kenny will fail for sure. Today’s game turned on Muth’s hold when PIT was driving down 27-23. Ended up in 1st and 25, punted and the Bengals ripped through the defense to end it.
Without Baldonado, we only get 6 sacks today.

Sir Vocea Dennis plays another great game and holds the Duke QB down. SVD has really picked up his tackling this year, his tackles are bigger hits.

And you have him on the bench. You put a guy(C’Bo) in that hasn’t carried the ball all game.

Pitt’s Senior Day stuff is totally embarrassing. As the seniors were announced and when out to their parents, there may have been more pigeons in the stadium than Pitt fans…. Pitt needs to rethink this…
I got to the point where I didn’t care about the outcome – I just wanted the game to be over…
BTW, Patti ran out with the seniors; Slovis didn’t. As of now, we won’t have on next season’s roster a QB who can add an element of running/escape-ability to an offense that badly needs it…

Slovis had 2 excellent years of his 3 at USC. Year 3…heck the Head Coach(Clay Helton) got fired before Game 3 of the season. One of those years Slowis was 1st team All Pac 12 QB.
The other year he threw 30 TD passes.

I said this after the spring game – Patti out performed Slovis and it wasn’t even close. Narduzzi is far to loyal to his own decisions, people, etc. it blinds him.

Say what you want about play calling, but the QB is responsible for executing the plays and Slovis has shown he is not able to do so. Some thoughts:

It’s tough to evaluate Kenny this year. His OC stinks. His line stinks.
He doesn’t have the line, the back and the D that Big Ben had when he was a rookie. Plus he’s throwing far more than Ben did his first year.
Judge him in his second year. Every rookie gets a pass. It’s the sophomore year when you should see a leap.

Kenny looking good at times, but about every fifth pass is a real head-scratcher for how off-target it is…
Before the season, I had doubted the Steelers would win more than one game in their division. At this point, that’s looking pretty accurate…
Need to get Kenny lots of help in the draft – offense and defense…
