Jordan Addison won the Bilitnikoff last night and deservedly so. It was a win for the “little guy” in every sense of the word, given that he was up against someone from Alabama, and also because he’s not the tallest dude on the block.

Addison and Pickett were also named Walter Camp 1st team All-Americans. Another win for Pitt.

I am still skeptical that Pickett will win the Heisman, given the politics that (I believe) go into it, but we all know that no player has meant more to his team, or has been more “outstanding”. But we are wearing Pitt-colored glasses, and even the infamous “fake slide” probably won’t be enough to boost Pitt’s loyal son over the Alabama Bryce Young Juggernaut (sadly).

For the record the official criteria for Heisman winners includes the words “Diligence, perseverance, and hard work”. If that isn’t Kenny Pickett I don’t know what is.

The Heisman Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. It is presented by the Heisman Trophy Trust in early December before the postseason bowl games.

  1. KP did mean more to his team than almost all other. Standing behind a 5 star OL is a lot easier than running for your life behind other OLs. We are not a 5 star laden team. However KP did bring about an NCAA rule change and that is quite an accomplishment given the NCAA as we know it. H2P

  2. Great to see Pitt players being recognized. Well deserved. I think KP has more upside in the NFL than Young based upon how recent ‘Bama QB’s are preforming in the NFL. Good point about Young performing with 4 and 5 stars. I still see a Juke and Fake more than a slide. Wonder if a penalty would have been called if KP was rocked by a WF player? Also wondering if the athletic department ever considered moving the Volleyball games to the Pete. A shame that an Elite 8 volleyball team doesn’t seem to get deserved respect.

  4. Not that well known yet, but the “Scooter Award” is given annually to the best college-football tailgate in the nation.

    Fran and Wolfe’s tailgate is the clear favorite! 👍

  6. KP should win the Heisman but I doubt he does. Young is surrounded by great players, you could plug Tino in at Alabama QB and he would have put up the same numbers…well, he would have tripled the number of sacks also, but still.

  8. I’m not so sure that Kenny doesn’t win the Heisman over yet another Alabama player. The old heads may remain steadfast but I don’t know this time. The numbers are pretty much the same and PITT in and of itself does not challenge the good old favorite schools. Heck, Cook doesn’t even vote for PITT players so I don’t know what to expect. I just have a gut feeling that they Pickk Kenny Pickett!

      1. Electronic ballots went out to 870 media members plus 58 former winners on Monday, November 26. They have until Monday, December 3, at 5 p.m. ET, to return their ballots to Deloitte, the accounting firm that tabulates the votes.

      2. Most of the voters are media members who cover college football on a regular basis. They are divided up into six regions of 145 members each: The Northeast, Southwest, South, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Far West. In addition, the 58 living Heisman winners are spread out within the various regions.

  12. From a PSN photo it looks like Chubba along with mom and dad are coming to PITT for the weekend visit. Looks like they are serious and now we will find out if Narduzzi will the “Pitt Is It” signal before the Purdy’s return home to Arizona. I’m guessing we are going to see it.

    2. Purdy has either been keeping a really low profile since he entered the portal, or he hasn’t visited any other schools. I’ve not been able to find anything about him visiting anywhere but Pitt.

      And what’s not to like for him? We just won the ACC. We have a ton of weapons coming back. By most accounts he’ll have a mostly super-senior offensive line blocking for him. We just need an impact player at QB…

      Not to get all y’all’s hopes up or anything…

  13. Congrats to the obvious winner of the Bilitnikoff, Pitt’s J. Addisson. Anyone else would have been a travesty. He has proven that speed, great hands, and great route running beats size any tiime. Pitt again lays claim to WR U.

    With 60% of the OL returning and a 4* OL coming in this year’s class along with one of the most promising freshman TEs in the nation, you’d be “Purdy” stupid if you didn’t seriously consider Pitt. Sorry, if he comes to Pitt we need to get these out of our systems.

    Also, don’t sleep on Wayne as one of the better possession WRs in the country. Lastly, if Marion can get Bradley to improve his catching ability and his maturity, his obvious athletic abilities could make it tough for teams to figure out who to double team.

    1. Biggest problem on offense – besides QB of course – is what happens with Bartholomew’s role. Assuming Bartholomew moves to the more traditional TE spot, who can handle that hybrid H-back/TE spot?

      Since we have Coach Whip’s playbook, I’d like to see us keep most of it and just tweak it by getting rid of sideway passes, etc…. I remember a couple coaches saying it was tough to prepare for Pitt’s offense – the best compliment an OC can get…

      It’s all on film, but who can teach it….

      1. The sideways pass, while seldom successful, is used to set up other plays…so says Whipple.

        Agree, have to keep Bartholomew in the game plan. Not hard to do. Even Air Raid teams use a TE.

  15. In a photo of the 4 Heisman finalists together in NYC today, I didn’t notice any Alabama, Michigan State or THE OSU apparel. But there was Pickett with his Pitt apparel on. What’s that all about?
