  1. Wow what a win tonight in Charlotte!!! The defense found their groove after getting smashed in the mouth several times.

I guess crow does not taste that bad! Coach Narduzzi does deserve a new contract. There I said it. That should make Ike even happier than he is now (If that is even possible!).

  2. Pitt is 11-2.

    31 unanswered points for Pitt!

    4 interceptions!

But I think the key was having such a strong core of POV celebrities at the game.

The combo of Scooter and Richman would be tough for anyone to beat.

    ike pleased!

    Go Pitt.

  3. A unbelievable turn around from the Pitt D after the 1st Q. I thought I was watching what Clemson did to Wake defensively a couple of weeks back.—-And not to be too negative but I think some of our POV posters who have been pounding the table calling for Pitt to run the ball more should perhaps rethink that narrative. We absolutely stick running the ball between the tackles. If we get outside like Izzy did once or twice we can do some damage. But asking our RB to run off tackle is sheer futility.

  4. From the depths of despair leaving Heinz Field after WMU to the absolute Thrill of Victory. What a ride. Cheers to all our fans, especially those that made the trip.

    1. This was the first time since 2002 that PSU did not qualify for the NCAA tournament regionals. It was the first time Pitt beat PSU in the NCAA tournament. The previous three times the matches were in State College. Great night all around for Pitt! Penn State’s coach challenging the match point was pretty petty if you ask me! I thought Russ Rose was better than that! He may be entering the “Woody Hayers” part of his coaching career.

Kayla Lund had a fantastic match. Coach Fisher was keeping her under wraps for this match apparently.

      1. I lived and died with every point. I thought Penn State gave Pitt way more trouble than expected.

When you get a chance could you or Annie give a synopsis of what happened and why? Thx

        1. The first reason Pitt had such a hard time was because Pitt made too many unforced errors especially in the second set. Pitt cleaned up on that a bit in the last two sets. Vazquez Gomez came through big in at the end of the last two sets basically serving the Panthers to the win!

The second reason Pitt had such a hard time was that Penn State was really much better than their record. Russ Rose has won 7 NCAA championships. He said publicly that this year’s team is not one of the best he has ever coached. One must remember Rose’s bar is rather high when it comes to talent and team cohesion. He is also a pretty blunt individual. All of that should not diminish how good this year’s Penn State was. Serena Gray thought she was going to be the 3rd middle on the Penn State team this year and that is why she transferred to Pitt. The Pitt/Penn State rivalry also brought out the best in the Penn State team.

  5. So Peach Bowl or Fiesta Bowl ? We’ll travel a lot better to the Peach Bowl in Atlanta.
Plus I don’t believe we’ve ever played in it…so that will be another 1st.

I would imagine, Ole Piss would be the opponent.

  6. Instead of writing “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly,” Erie might have to write “The Good, The Better, and The Best!”

The Pickett fake slide was one great improvisation – glad he didn’t hurt his ankle.

Oh, I guess there was one “bad,” Drexel’s snaps. Looked like Zubovic came in for him, but a lot of damage was done…

    Hail to Pitt!

  7. In the depths of despair I’ve always been proud to say I’m a Pitt fan. It’s quite satisfying to be able to savor a night like tonight and to share it with all of you.

Whether KP wins the Heisman, despite Narduzzi not being Coach of the Year, they and the rest of the 2021 Panthers are now legends.

    H2P!!!

  8. I could swear that Coach Duzz seems to be growing into the job. His demeanor lately has been more relaxed and very confident, but not in a snarky way…

Hope it continues…(maybe it’s just a byproduct of having an excellent QB…😊)

    Hail to Pitt.

  10. I can’t believe so many of you are still up. I really can’t believe my good luck in living to see a Pitt team that takes me back to the 70s/ early 80s. Most of all I can’t believe KP was really that good. He did sort of appear out of no where statistically.

Peace and love to you all.

  11. It killed me to watch the post game celebration on TV and not be there in person. But the Panthers are 1-6 in post season games that I have attended, so staying home was my contribution to the team effort.

So pleased to see the great Pitt crowd in the stands for the trophy presentation and for Sweet Caroline. Go Pitt, go Pitt, go Pitt!

    1. Thank you for not being there, dinosaur71. 🙂 I have learned to no longer post a prediction, since we lost every time that I did. So, I guess that means you and I won the game for them, huh?

  13. The Pitt Volleyball team hosts the NCAA Regionals. The Regional semifinal is Thursday. I guess because we have a men’s basketball game against Colgate that night, the volleyball game will be played at Fitzgerald Fieldhouse. Those two venues probably should be swapped. There will be way more fans at the volleyball game, unfortunately (for the basketball program).

  14. There will be fans from four teams at the volleyball games Thursday. 3rd seeded Pitt versus Kansas and 6th seeded Purdue against 11th seeded BYU. How can they possibly accommodate all four at the Fieldhouse? Seems to me that something’s got to give.

  15. For you older POVers, the game was almost like 48-14 in reverse. I don’t mind telling you how nervous I was early in the 2nd quarter

So in Pitt FB lore, there is the Slide Play and now the Fake Slide Play. Which one do you prefer?

  16. Couple of observations….I can’t recall seeing a team pack it in, in a game of such importance, with so much tine left, around six minutes. Also, does anyone else think it was a jagoff move by Big Ben to leak his “last year with the Steelers ” news, on a day where Pitt should be the #1 sports news story in Pittsburgh?

    1. And, the “official” who the TV announce asked for a comment said that he thought it should have been flagged. Or, if not, that the rules people will need to determine that it needs to be flagged in the future. Debatable. But, I am just happy that we did it to Wake and not the opposite.

      1. Next year there will be the Pickett rule.

Pitt still wins without The Fake Slide. It was still freaking awesome. Pitt D players would not have pulled up if Hartman did the same.

        1. And there really should be a Pickett rule. Some quarterback is going to get clobbered if they allow them to continue.

      Wake’s last 11 drives:

      INT
      Punt

      Punt
      Punt
      Punt
      Punt
      INT

I’m sure Tex, UPitt, and Jay from Tower A are thinking about it, maybe just a little.

  18. Our coaches who take the grief when we lose should get all the credit for this one.
The absolute shut down defense after the first 21 and the management of the running game
and use of Izzy was brilliant. Wake obviously tried to take Addison out of his game with holding and kicking every punt out of bounds after his brilliant return. Many guys caught passes and KP was spot on as usual.

    1. Honestly, I’d be fine with KP sitting out the bowl game. He accomplished for us what he came back to do…

And we’d get to see, for better or worse, what the backups can do. Might help tell you if you want to pursue a portal QB…

    1. It was great to see Camp get that sack near the goal line – especially after all the injuries he’s been through.

I was amazed Hartman held onto the ball there…

    2. Except why was Goncalves even around the ball at that time? Answer: The man that Goncalves was supposed to blocking and protecting PI-cke-TT beat him like a drum and got to Kenny causing the fumble. If Goncalves was able to do his job, no fumble, no fumble recovery

We took their best in the 1st Q…and still won the Half !….as i noted during the game.

  21. You know KP didn’t really “fake” a slide. He was actually going to slide, but then I thought he saw he could get a few more yards and came out of it, but when he did he saw so much room that it only made sense to keep going…

What was also interesting on that play was that KP just barely avoided being sacked. A sack there may have changed the whole game…

    Go Pitt.

  22. What a great logo in the PITT end zone…. Gave me chills on a warm December night….

Was hoping Clancy could pull an Aaron Donald move and tackle Hartman and the ball carrier during one of those long RPO PLAYS.

I sat in the middle of the WF faithful along with 12 other PITT fans….. I enjoyed seeing them heading to the exits 1/2 way through the 4th quarter!!!

Yesterday morning the Uber drive saw our PITT shirts and responded. “ You people are deep,” referring to the size of the Panther faithful roaming Charlotte….. remember when “ the PITT fans don’t travel well.” Put that to rest. Hail to Champions!!!

    2. That was a great Pitt script and the 2 huge Panther heads in the EZ. Wonder if Tepper had something to do with it.

Looked more like Pitt’s Home Field than Mustard Jar does.

  23. What an incredible season. I never saw it coming.

Winning a conference championship and exercising the demons brought on by our own administration was so big. Kudos to the coaches and players.

We had this special season due to a special quarterback. It’s all about the trigger man in this sport. Hopefully more special ones have taken notice.

  24. JoeL – you probably saw it but Mt. Lebanon routed State College 49-28 yesterday. (ErieExpress pleased! 😊).

Mt. Lebo was up 49-14 in the 3rd quarter activating the mercy rule. Just like Pitt invoked the mercy rule against WF…

  25. Wonderful. I am searching for a point in time when things changed for us. Was it PN hiring, PK enrolling, PK slide, etc.
Maybe the most important point was renewing the Pitt script because it was so minor but to us oldsters, it injected an old good feeling symbol about Pitt. H2P

Venables to Oklahoma could be a problem for Clemson.

Narduzzi and Co. should be hitting the recruiting trail with some deliverables!

  29. OT – Something interesting I read about the volleyball win over PSU — the point that finally gave Pitt the match came on a block by Pitt’s Serena Gray.

Serena Gray transferred to Pitt from —————— PSU.

    1. Did you know that Serena Gray graduated from Penn State last year and was their valedictorian? She is was a great pickup by Pitt. She played club volleyball with Kayla Lund. The biggest pickup this year was Leketor Member-Meneh. She was a huge weapon for the team while Kayla was not up to par.

  30. Strike while the iron is hot. If ever there was a time to get VERY high quality recruits/transfers it is now. 2021 was a dream come true, but every Panther fan wants to see us establish ourselves as a solid program that is in the national picture every year.

We can’t and shouldn’t try to compete with the likes of Alabama because we don’t play professional football, however, I am willing to bet that over 90% of all POV’ers would be satisfied to see us ranked in the top 15 every year with some years being SUPER special placing us in the top 10. The only way this can happen is with excellent (well paid) coaches and a solid commitment to recruiting…..Pitt is a great school with applications climbing through the roof (entry standards rising for sure), an amazing urban campus in a one of a kind American City……..but the missing element up until now has been a disinterested fanbase that leaves Ketchup Stadium with 20,000-25,000 empty seats for almost every game.

So, the bottom line question is simply will we be able to move beyond 2021 to a TRULY BRIGHT future for Pitt Football///////I believe we can !!!!!

    1. That broadcast left much to be desired. No mention of Pitt’s 9 NC’s or former greatness, nor of all the great current NFL players we have.

They were more interested in telling of us of Hartmans psychological problems, which doesn’t belong
in that type of situation imo.

This seems like a good time to re-visit the five losses on Tennessee’s schedule this year:

Two teams in the College Football Playoff, the ACC Champions, a top 10 team who will play in the Sugar Bowl, and a top 15 team who later imploded.
