Getting back to a point made in the previous thread, I have concern for next season’s defense because our defense depends so much on us having an effective pass rush. Our DEs didn’t exactly dazzle against UCLA.
Hayes could be okay, but Brima didn’t seem to have the quickness or instincts. I guess we have some younger DEs – we need a couple of them to really make a splash.
I think John Morgan was an enormous loss…
Go Pitt.

I think the key to Slovis not meeting expectations lies in what happened at USC. After his huge Freshman year, he fell out of favor. I’m guessing his leadership, or lack of it, skills were exposed during the time of transition. Narduzzi probably didn’t get a good feel for it during the short recruiting period. This was borne out when he bailed after the season without sticking around for the bowl game. Contrast that with Patti who stayed when Slovis was brought it.

Erie, regarding 2nd half adjustments I agree I overstated a bit. Pitt failed to make adjustments in the UNC, GT and Louisville games, however:
1-Shut down UCLA passing offense (110 yards) except for the one 70 yard drive at the end, held the high scoring team to 14 2nd half points.
2-Limited Leonard and Duke to 12 2nd half points
3-Almost shut out ‘Cuse in 2nd half with only a FG made
4-Held VT to 13 in 2nd half compared to Pitt’s 28
5-Outscored WVU 28-21 in 2nd half
6-Outscored Tenn 10-3 in 2nd half, losing in OT
7-WMU and RU who cares, both big wins
So in most games won the 2nd half and frankly with some legitimate offense in the GT and Louisville games could have won more.

So, what do we need from the portal?
My list:
-No. 1 on Defense — a good DE edge rusher;
-No. 1 on Offense – a burner WR, or two; (Although I noticed that our 3 WRs averaged 10, 11 and 21 yards per catch against UCLA. The 21 was Bub!)
Other needs:
-A TE. (GB remains a mystery. Was that a Sophomore slump or can he only play the Whipple role? Big issue and question mark going forward.)
-A Sirvocea clone would be nice…
Go Pitt.

jrnpitt, in comment at 5:02am, said Ben Sauls was the best 2-star on the Pitt roster. To help you decide, here are the Rivals rated 2-stars (excluding Dennis and Drexel):
2019 DE Nate Temple 5.4 (Abbeville, SC finest and my favorite)
2020 K Ben Sauls 5.3
2021 OL Trey Anderson 5.2
2022 P Sam Vander Harr 5.2
TP entry 2019 TE Dylan Devaney 5.4
Based on my yearly analysis of Rivals top 100 recruiting rankings. the signing of 2-stars by FBS teams are declining. The TP, extra year Covid eligibility, and ratings inflation by the recruiting sites are the reason for the decline.

Are there any theories as to what is going on with Hugely? If the knee is a problem then why say he wasn’t playing because of “personal reasons”?

I just think he’s not in shape and it’s a mutual decision to get him properly conditioned. Letting him play his way into shape went off the table with Pitt being competitive and realistically playing for the post-season. If they needed him, he’d probably be in there.
No insider info. Just a guess. At first I thought he may be considering a transfer but he should have done that prior to the new year. The alternative in my mind is getting him mentally and physically ready.
LikeLike
Regarding personal reason, it sounds like that’s Capel’s way of taking some pressure off of him. He wasn’t benched. He decided he was hurting the team more than helping the team. In reality, Capel probably told him that more bluntly. Capel spun the Dior Johnson red shirt the same way. Mutual. No way that was mutual. That was Lyke’s, if not Capel’s choice.

I believe the fielders will be competitive and hit well enough to win more games than we lose. Pitching is key to this HC retaining his job. Ironically he is the former pitching coach for FL State – Mike Bell never has been a HC prior to coming to Pitt.
Bell was passed over when the FL State HC was fired at the end of last season – I believe in his 1st year. He did not continue the winning ways of the Seminole baseball team and got chopped.

I have to acknowledge Patti was better than expected and way more of a leader and athlete than sleepy Slovis. He most likely would have got Pitt another win this year if he stayed healthy. That is a big if.
WVU and Pitt made bad portal QB decisions. They should have stayed in house. While WVU learned their lesson, Pitt did not. I’d take a year of Patti over the Jurk.
Speaking of mistakes, Kradel should have been the starting center all year.
Taylor is going to be very good at tackle. Someone needs to tell Cignetti to mix up the snap count. UCLA was getting a head start on the Pitt OL on many plays.
Pitt needs a MLB with Dennis’s speed. George doesn’t have it.
Bates has become an excellent DC. He doesn’t get enough credit.

Imagine if Nick subbed for Slovis in the GT and Louisville games. Neither game did our O take flight.
At least we may have shown a different look to a weaker team we should have beaten.
If we had success in those two games, UNC was a prime game in the 2nd half where different could have turned a loss into a win.
I saw a totally different leader in the QB position vs UCLA. Nick had moxie, pocket presence and command of the moment. He was not perfect, but I did not see perfect in the two playoff games either.
I know many are defending Duzz and his loyalty to Kedon – it really doesn’t make much sense to at least replace him when the offense wasn’t working.
Then again I don’t get paid millions to make those decisions and I don’t get paid for my opinion.
Best wishes Nick with your next team. TCU could be a great fit. Go Frogs!

Very, very late to this party…
My sister LizL’s house sustained significant water damage to her home over Xmas while she was visiting us in Virginia. Water on every floor of her home. My brother and I have been in Canonsburg the past several days helping her get temporary housing and restoration services, etc. If any of you have experience with this sort of thing, you will understand its an emotionally devasting thing to deal with.
We were moving her into an apartment during the game and missed watching it live, which was unfortunate… but managed to follow it on the radio. Thought Jeff Hathorn did a great job substituting for Bill Hillgrove – for that matter, the entire broadcast team was really good. Passerbys must have wondered what ChrisL and I were doing…. all the car windows down, radio blasting and standing outside the car with totes when Saul’s kick was good. Something like Fraiser Crane & Niles doing a jig.
Watched most of the second half later that night in the hotel with glasses of bourbon and read the POV thread. Always a funny read after a close win.
I had a couple of broader thoughts about the game to share.
Paul Zeise’s “If They Don’t Care…” column certainly captured what some people felt. The only problem was that he (and we) overlooked the rest of the program, focusing only on what was lost and not what it had. The rest of them stood up, filled the gaps and reminded us a most basic idea about football – it’s a team game. Think Narduzzi and his staff might have used Zeise’s words as motivation?
And the whole “meaningless bowl game” topic. Anyone recall Gary Danielson making a joke about too many bowls games at the end of the game and laughing? I’m guilty of having been in the meaningless crowd – particularly last year. I will have to re-assess that in light of what went down in El Paso. That specific game was anything but meaningless. Don’t agree?… ask the kids who played.
Had Pitt lost the game – even if badly – I may have downplayed it due to the loss of all the starters. particulalry when a few folks here – some crawling out of the woodwork – would ltell us the world had ended for Pitt athletics.
Instead, Pitt and Narduzzi showed us there is reason to think the team might be OK next year. There are a lot of kids who can play and they played hard. That was one chippy game (and screw those Bruins with their trash talk, cheap shots and classless coach).
One might not like Narduzzi – the way he comes across at times, his defense first mindsight, or his OC hiring decisions – but he has built stability and depth in the program. Im already excited for the Spring Game.
Final thought… Nick MF Patti. That dude has stones the size of the ones on the white stallion he rode off on. What a great capstone moment for him and the program. A tip of the cap to him.
Happy New Year!

Joel, if you need any pointers on the process, feel free to send me an email. Every insurance company has a list of restoration services that work for them, not for you. Take pictures and video of the damage. Read her policy and rely on your agent.
Key is getting restoration out their quickly with blowers to dry. Need to clear of mold. They usually do a real nice job, but you have to ask…..sternly, if things look wrong. With regard to coverage, insurance will not replace the pipe (if it burst), but they will replace everything else that is damaged. Many of the restoration firms will fix the pipe for you while doing the rest of the work. It’s a 45-60 day process hopefully. Also, check to see if she has coverage to pay for alternate housing while damages are remedied. Most policies do, but you need to look. Their obligation is to put you back in the same (if not better) situation than when she suffered the loss.

Thanks Huff – met with the adjuster and had restoration on the ground Friday AM… later than we woudl have liked, but plenty of busted pipes in the Pgh area.
I have to say they are kicking butt and have the jumbo dehumidifiers and fans going. Carpet entuirely out of the house Friday, drywall pulled down in basement on Sat. Holiday weekend hurts, but they will be back at it tomorrow.
Coverage is really good and they are footing the alternate housing – been easy to work with at this point. Its a patio home which shares a wall, so there is a sprinkler system which is what burst. Happened before and a lack of insulation was root cause. We anticiapte legal action.
Thanks very much for the offer of assistance.

Allow me to render a tip. Hide any valuables before the restoration crew gets to your house. After water damage from a failed sump pump in my basement,I had a restoration crew, recommended by my insurance company, come in to dry out the basement. A few months after they left, a dagger that my father brought back from Germany during World War 2 , was missing. They were the only people in my house. Someone on their crew had to take it. But, os course I could not prove it. It was given to me and had great sentimental value. The sword that came with it was not taken. Too large, I guess to hide.

Didn’t get a chance to watch much of the UNC game. I would disagree on the Capel accolades at this point. Years of awful coaching cannot be forgotten that easily for me, especially since we still have the dreaded late January/February yearly meltdown we have yet to conquer.
I will note that Dan Hurley’s squad was ranked #2 last week and lost at Sean Miller’s Xavier squad. Those dudes can flat out recruit and coach. We have seen neither from Capel in all his years here, so hopefully he is starting to turn the corner. I remain supportive of his hire because better wasn’t available after missing on Hurley and Miller. Coaching is still suspect to me, but pulling for him and the team. Hughley remains a mystery.

We have had some bad BBall with Capel so you may very well be right. Capel was dead man walking at the end of last year so he at least deserves consideration for not phoning it in. Even with his bad luck with DJ and Hugley this team is different, much more talent than any other he produced.
Yes in the ACC things could go south fast, pun intended. I am hoping they won’t because this team is much more mature and seem to like each other. They also play defense and should get better at it as they learn to trust and work with each other more. Much less selfishness than former Capel teams.
Friday you could once again start to feel the impact of home field advantage even with the refs not cooperating and a large powder blue contingent. They have also shown they can win on the road.
I for one am obviously rooting for Capel and this group he has assembled. Hoping he has put the fun back into the Pete and that it continues.

It was found just in time – I shut off the water, called my plumber, we had a place booked for several days away to celebrate New Year’s – I got lucky and found the problem before we went away or I’d have a similar problem come Tuesday when we return home.
The fix should be completed by Wednesday evening if all goes according to plans. Thursday we should be back to normal.
Huff – great advice!

Off Topic: Lady Hurricanes 74 Lady Panthers 67 Out rebounded and the U scored heavily in the paint. Coach White has no way to improve this team substantially because he has been unable to recruit talent capable of playing in the ACC.
But, on the men’s side I think we will continue to do well without a complete Jan/Feb collapse.
As always, many very difficult games in the schedule, but I doubt that we will face blowouts.
I am going to be the 46th person to ask, what’s with Hugely? If Hugely can overcome whatever is keeping him off the floor Pitt will be a force with Federiko x2 continuing to show improvement.

Pitt women BB team was out-rebounded 44-33. Ouch.
What happens when you start two six footers in the paint, while the opponent has 6-4 post players…
Coach is trying different combinations, but he just doesn’t have a post player.

I wish you young guys could have experienced the joy of New Year’s Day with a huge hangover watching the parades in anticipation of a day of meaningful bowl games that were on all afternoon and into the night.
However the two weeks of bowl games isn’t all bad and although it wasn’t the Sugar Bowl I’ll take that win in the Sun as a really special memory. Definitely helps to wipe out the 3-0 memory.

Steelers’ offense is such a mess. We have 3 FGs tonight – so exciting…
KP takes the snap, turns and hands the off. No deception, no nothing. They’d be better off with wildcat – at least they’d pick up another blocker.
This aggravates me because all the offenses that work are on video. There are no secrets. Yet other teams have cool, creative plays, while we hand the ball off with no deception. We act like we have an all-pro offensive line – which we don’t…

Pittsburgh papers need a photo op this week with both Nick Patti and Kenny Pickett holding game balls after both rallied their teams to last possession victories this past week. Would be great for Pitt recruiting also.—-Tomlin over the past few weeks also should have given Pitt recruiting a boost by mentioning several times how the Steelers close proximity to Pitt helped in convincing the Steelers to make KP their #1 pick. Isn’t that what almost all power 5 recruits want is a chance for a NFL contract?

I read this article early this morning and assumed Gordon would link it. It’s a nice read.
For those who don’t know it, Mike Ferrell was a top dog in the Rivals recruiting hierarchy before a shakeup at Rivals. He struck out on his own.
Look at the Sun Bowl champions team picture. Notice a photo bomb? I had seen the pic before, but I didn’t notice it but a commentor on the article did.

I pulled this bit from the article:
“The number of Pitt players opting out and in the portal, the QB situation for Pitt and the relative health of a UCLA team that went 9-3 on the season with losses only to ranked Oregon and ranked USC and an upset loss to Arizona. This (UCLA) team beat PAC 12 champ Utah. This team beat a ranked Washington team. This team was healthy.
At the time of analysis Pitt was going to be short around 18 players (not including JA3).”
Comment by me: So how would Pitt have faired against USC? We will never know because the game was not played, BUT UCLA lost a similar shoot-out to the Trojans & Panthers. I believe JA3 would have gotten his yards and a TD or so, but QB Caleb Williams would have been subject to pressure & harassment like the two Utah losses USC experienced.
Just my opinion…

From Chris Peak of Panther Lair.com:
“Overall, a defense that was missing five starters from its opening-day lineup held an offense that ranked top-10 in total offense, rushing offense and scoring offense below its season averages in all three categories.
Even more impressive than the final stats was the performance in the second half, when UCLA (offense) scored one touchdown and gained 155 yards – 70 of which came on the Bruins’ touchdown drive at the end of the game, while another 58 came on their third quarter-opening drive that ended with an interception.
On the five possessions in between, as Pitt’s offense found a bit of rhythm and scored 13 unanswered points, UCLA punted three times, threw another interception and turned the ball over on downs, running a total of 15 plays and gaining 27 yards (1.8 yards per play).
What all of that means for 2023 remains to be seen. But on Friday afternoon in El Paso, the young Pitt defense rose to the occasion.”

Not to rain on anyone’s parade or dampen the enthusiasm but how many things had to go absolutely right for Pitt to beat UCLA? It was the perfect storm. Four interceptions, four field goals in the wind, two wind aided kickoffs, putting their QB on the bench. Giving up ttheir final touchdown drive, requiring the perfect final drive with two great throws and great catches, and Patti’s runs all day ending with the final amazing first down.
It was one for the ages reminiscent of 13-9.
We probably only beat them 1 out of 10 times. That is what makes this win so sweet.

Trash talking is for the trash, garbage and no class. When these dudes run, gyrate, dance and swivel their hips, to me is spells that they are amazed at themselves for doing something special, meanwhile they are just doing their job. That is sometimes, like the goofs that make a tackle 20 yards downfield.
Where did PITT drag themselves to? UCLA the past 8 years?? Somewhere around 45-52. Last national title? 1954. Lat conference title? 1998.
It’s not about PITT. It’s about the bias against them. Just like the running into the punter and pass interference no calls.
What Narduzzi has done with all obstacles against PITT is a job well done. No dancing required King Pat!

But, I love the guy dancing down 25 points as much as the kid who points out the scoreboard to the kid dancing. He’s great, too.
The reaction to UCLA’s QB was completely warranted. I loved that, too. I love your hate for it. Haha. Hate creates passion.
There is no “I” in team but there is an “m” and an “e” … sports would be boring without the “me” part … for me, anyways.
I hire a lot of college athletes because they are both team driven as well as a personally motivated. You need both. That arrogance and/or self confidence can be healthy. And most who give it can take it. If you’re acting like a fool but can’t can’t take the trash talking back, it’s like c’mon. Weak sauce.
Duzz talks more than any other coach in the country. His reaction to the QB being out was a fantastic comeback.
We’re allowed to disagree, Ike. We disagree on loyalty, too. At least at face value. There is a time and place for it but I think a lot of loyalty is misguided and not reciprocated.

I love the Deion’s, Favre’s, AI’s … AI wasn’t bad, though … People didn’t like AI because he brought the “hood” to the game. He generally let his game do the speaking though.
There is a place for the Barry Sanders’, Tim Duncan’s, Kawhi’s, Fitz’s … But there is also a place for their polar opposite. The ying and the yang and the different ways to be great make it fun.
The clash of personalities makes sports fun. For me, anyways.

I think the difference is USC and UCLA will be able to draw recruits on location alone. Ain’t nobody wanting to go to Rutgers, College Park, or West Virginia. I am a little surprised about MD but it’s very urban. More urban than people probably realize. I think you’re in the DMV so you know what I mean. I did think the under armour money and Big Ten would help them more than it has.

USC (private school with huge national and international student body and deep pocketed boosters) is in a different situation than the rest of the PAC-12. Combine their history with their location, their alumni, and how much more they care about football than most of the Pac-12 and they are well positioned for the new college football (NIL) landscape. They’ll be fine in the Big10. No reason they can’t vie with Michigan to be the #2 team in that conference.
UCLA is a whole ‘nother story, The financial situation for UC athletic departments is dismal. UCLA especially overspent and was beyond broke and the UCs don’t bail out the athletic department to the extent many other university systems do. Program cuts were a real possiblity at UCLA and the Big10 is a financial lifeline for them. As far as football is concerned, it’s not like UCLA was tearing apart the PAC-12. They can lose 3 to 5 games a year in the Big10 same as in the PAc-12 and be in a lot better fiscal position with their new arrangement. Now, for the non-revenue sports…

JP – I LOVED the bowl game but this is what I was talking about when I say the games don’t mean anything. Yes, they mean something to everyone who suits up and/or coaches … but it’s a game of no consequences. Win/Lose … there is nothing to be gained from it outside of what can carry over into the offseason … which I personally don’t think is much … but coaches will say differently.
Last season, Pitt lost to MSU in the Peach Bowl. MSU moved up one spot. Pitt down one spot. The value of the game was on spot in the ranking for both teams. That was a New Years Day game.
That is why I cannot get upset over kids not playing. It’s an exhibition game at the end of the season that doesn’t have any affect on the season that preceded it.
It’s a fun game. But it’s a game that doesn’t mean anything. Both can be true.
The no consequences part of the equation can actually lead to really fun games because coaches tend to throw conservatism out the window and coach more aggressively.
Just to emphasize, because this triggers some people, “doesn’t mean anything” is a macro projection … not directed at players, coaches, fans …
I expect nothing less than 100% effort. Not implying that is the case at all.

As was said though, it goes too far when a guys does a personal celebration when his team is getting killed, and the play is meaningless in the scheme of things.

VolleyballMag.com published their All-American High School Team article a couple of days ago. Their first team contained 14 members, of which 6 were outside hitters. Two of Pitt’s four incoming freshmen were among those 6. That is very, very impressive! The vacancies at OH from this year’s team will not be a problem. Hopefully a Pitt Panther will be receiving the weekly ACC WVB Freshman of the Year award most of the time next season.
The two first team OH were 6’5″ Olivia Babcock and 6’3″ Torrey Stafford. Both of them are now listed as one inch taller the last time there was a mention of their heights.
Pitt 2024 commit, MB Ryla Jones was listed as an Honorable mention.
Coach Fisher still has a lot of work to do this month. He needs to get a new female assistant coach and two middle blockers from the transfer portal. The better middle blockers in the portal have already been taken so we are going to be weak in that area next year. Perhaps Fisher has something in his back pocket. The UCLA middle blocker they were counting on withdrew from the portal when the new UCLA coach was announced and when Pitt’s assistant coach was named as the new head coach at Oregon State.

These athletes are brought up on 7 v 7, and the art and science of tackling is lost. Same with the nfl. This started about 6-8 years ago, right about the time of the RPO phenomenon and a very light run game. Defenders are very athletic and throw their bodies at offensive players to jar them down, but the art of wrapping up….is pretty much gone!

Going to make a brief comment to add to Ike’s and Tossing going back and forth above. Lovely exchange. I want to expound on that just a bit with a story.
Years ago, I spent a lot of time with the Pirates, long-tossing at Pitt and workouts at 3Rivers. From a timing perspective, it was right after the Barry Bonds/Jim Leyland staged incident in Bradenton. This is how things were discussed shortly thereafter during workouts. There is no “I” in Team. There is a “me” in team, but that usually isn’t the problem, because the individual me’s sometimes need to shine as individual’s for team success. The dysfunction surrounds the little known area of the “rounded capital A” in team. It was referred to as the “a” hole. That person is always the problem and can destroy a clubhouse. There is no I in Team, but there can sometimes be an a hole. Those athletes need to go.

Also seems like with defenses gearing up so much now to defend the passing game, you have lighter, faster defensive players, especially at outside linebacker and safety.

Several on this site are EMTs. I took many coaches medical training courses. I can tell you getting CPR and oxygen is about as bad as it gets. Many prayers for Damar!!
I suspect we will hear news shortly and the news will not be good. They need to cancel this game!

Heard he’s intubated and in critical condition. They said Damar’s mother is at the game and went with the ambulance.
Fran, Scooter and I spoke to Damar and Paris at a Pitt event. They both couldn’t have been nicer. I have a photo…
Prayers for Damar.

I’ve heard of this. Brian Kilmeade on Fox said it was a shot to the heart. We had a lacrosse player get hit in the heart with a lacrosse ball that killed him. No defibulator was available. It’s how quickly you can define as to whether he lives or dies.
They had a defib available and it’s all how quick he got it as to his prognosis. That he’s alive now is a miracle.

I think we all know that at some point in time someone will die during a game. Hopefully this is not it and Damar Hamlin makes a full recovery. We do not know whether his collapse was due to the hit or he suffered an unrelated stroke, heart attack, aneurysm etc do to a pre-existing condition.
We all hate the targeting rule but it is there for a reason, to make the game safer.
Really glad they postponed the game.

Yeah, like I give thanks to the NFL commish every day – especially for how idiotic and slow the league is about improving helmets to reduce head injuries…

He’s just a football player? He’s a 24 year old human being with a family who has his entire life ahead of him.
Who cares what school he goes to? Or who he plays for? That’s irrelevant.
As Pitt fans we’ve followed him as a Pitt Panther for 5 years and support him in the NFL. We’re intimately more familiar with him that the average fan. Minutes before his injury I posted about Boyd scoring a TD … because he was a Pitt Panther. Hamlin gets hurt (critically) … of course I’m going to support him.
He was given CPR and a defib because his heart stopped and you’re over here criticizing people for caring.
Amazing how low you go.
Hey Pitt just get the win. Don’t care if you die on the field. That’s the effort expected.

Once a Pitt man. Always a Pitt man.
Get well young man.

It’s remarkable that he thought it was okay to post that.
It’s a fan blog. Damar is one of the more popular players iof this era. He’s legit a fan favorite and known to be a great guy. That’s without hyperbole.
Of course fans are going to seek community when one of their own has fallen. The POV is a place for fans to gather.
But, we didn’t know him? Really? That’s what he used to justify his reasoning?
C’mon. I’m slightly shocked he didn’t blame Duzz or Lyke.

Absolutely the right and frankly only humane thing that the NFL postponed the game tonite. Although the times that a hit occurs and something as traumatic as a player being paralyzed is extremely serious, watching a player potentialy die on the field is a completely different thing.
Anyone with a brain, heart and soul should be able to tell the difference.
Prayers to Damar Hamlin a loyal Pitt man who contributed to Pitt’s success and “yes” that makes his situation more personal to Pitt fans who again have a heart, soul, and most importantly brain.

It should be obvious that the Bills would not be able to continue and play at a safe manner tonight, and even the Bengals, like Higgins would have difficulty. Who cares about tie breakers. It will hard enough for then to play next Sunday, especially if Damar doesn’t come out of this. He could still live and have some brain damage from lack of oxygen. The NFL did the right thing.

I was at a wrestling tournament with Will where a HWT went down on one of iirc 6 mats a couple of matches after Will wrestled on it
CPR administered in a soon silent gym and went on for way too long before ambulance got there, obviously couldn’t help but hear the counting of the compressions
guy did not make it I heard later, it was rough to learn later and now to think back to

What crossed my mind was that perhaps he had COVID at some point, and there was some heart damage from it. The hit he took seemed straight to the upper body which could have affected the heart. But there will be time to analyze the cause. Right now, our thoughts and prayers are with him for a full recovery.

The lack of humanity is unbelievable in some people. I would feel the same way about any football player that went and is going through what Hamlin and his Family are going through. Sure the fact that he is part of the Pitt Family makes it closer to home but geez…

I would advise each and everyone of you to sign up for a CPR/basic life saving course. They are inexpensive, takes a 2-3 hours of your time. Usually YMCA’s offer them or American heart association…plenty of info on-line. You do not need any prior medical training. You never know when it may come in handy. Be prepared. 2 times I have witnessed cardiac arrest and administered CPR: my 4-5 year old son choking on hard candy and most recently a lady in front of me fell out in a grand mal seizure at the Tennessee game and I assisted til the EMT’s got there. You won’t regret the time and money spent in return for the knowledge and skill that may save another human being!!!

As a former lifeguard, I’ve taken CPR retraining. If you learned when you were in your teens and you’re over 40/45, get retrained. Some protocols have changed. But, as BigB said, everyone should know CPR. Even if you never use it, be prepared.
H2P!!! Prayers for #3.

Excellent advice BigB. The immediate initiation of CPR in this instance will make a monumental difference in Damar’s ultimate recovery.
Call your local EMS service. Many offer CPR training for free as a community service.

If you have never been trained in CPR there’s a great New Years Resolution.
Maybe someone more tech savvy can post a link to The American Heart Association or other organization that provides trainings.
Quick note: I believe if you are untrained a compression rate of 100-120 per minute without breaths is appropriate and if trained its 30 compression and 2 breaths per cycle.
