  1. ‘Cuse and nose picker sent home. Buh-bye.

Not a bad start to the basketball 🏀 day!

    Go Pitt!

  3. F2 is Pitt’s leading scorer with 9 points. And rebounder….just need him to work on the Assists in
    the Off-season !

  4. Boeheim stunt to upstage Pitt & Capel being Coach of the Year, imo.
And of course the media being bias against Pitt….luvs it.

    1. FF has little idea where a miss is going yet in his development and Pitt guys don’t follow their misses. I can see that strategy against Duke, but who’s worried about GT’s fast break?

  5. Pitt needs a big win by over 10 today and if they lose tomorrow to Duke, make it a close loss and we’re in IMO.

  6. I think we could be up by 20 right now but I think Coach Capel is substituting liberally to try to keep players somewhat fresh for tomorrow. Some of these combinations don’t look like offensive juggernauts.

  7. Something like the above link I posted….has to be a result of Syracuse staffers and on-air people at ESPN. That is an obvious and blatant slight, of Pitt.
And this Boeheim crap is part of it.

Where this should be a conversation of the big turn-a-round of Pitt basketball this season,
it’s been turned into a conversation about the Nose-Picker & Syracuse.

  8. Well that sure wasn’t the way to open the second half. 10-2 GT run with 3 straight Pitt turnovers! Wake up damnit!

  9. Can’t match Techs intensity. Pitt in big trouble. Horrid turnover by Cummings. GT came to play and has just stunned Pitt. Wake up wake up!!

  10. Well Woody and his blabbering sidekick are sure pleased……overly excited.

Can’t stand these two, ESPN and the ACCN.

  11. After Pitt blowing their chance to win the ACC I’m not even nervous about this game. If they lose and blow the 2nd half to a lousy team that played yesterday they don’t deserve an NCAA bid.

    1. If we lose I even watch Selection Sunday. The Player’s golf tournament will be on at that time anyway.

  12. GT is 21-8 in this half already and making us look like we played the last 2 days. Need a run here…

  13. A good thing if Pitt loses….I don’t have to watch ESPN or ACCN until another 7 or 8 months.

  14. Pitt lack of defense and ability to move feet has been this way last five games. Even Cuse!!

  15. my god….Cummings….you’re a 90% FT shooter !
Let their Center pick your pocket for a break-a-way dunk earlier

  16. GT only had 4 guys foul out the whole season + 2 ACC Tournament games. Who exactly are they paying $$$$ for this?

  17. H2P. And we covered!!

    Burton is absolute $$$$

Refs were so bad and so biased it was unreal but…. That will be nothing compared to Duke which owns the refs tomorrow!!

  18. Tech played 2 days in a row … almost no substitutions and hung in with Pitt until the gas tank ran dry. Duke will be vey tough unless our 3 point shots have radar.

  19. Jamarius Burton from Charlotte with the YUGE game, 21 points & 8 assists and the 2 key plays in the last minute or so of the game. He would NOT let Pitt lose !!

Burton also made my Coffee mugs….lol

  20. Way too many unforced errors and missed shots by Pitt. Lucky we have a one man wrecking crew, possibly Burton’s best game ever regardless of stats which were pretty strong.
Strong game by GDG to spell Fede, Franklin is a heck of a player.

  21. “Pitt just beat a horrible GT team!”

I hated when so-called experts say things like this. I think we just beat a damn good team – they made a ton of tough shots.

And the officiating is the officiating – they miss calls for both sides. Didn’t call a couple travels on Burton, for example…

Congrats to the Pitt Panthers for hanging tough and getting the win…

    Go Pitt.

  22. Keep in mind, we lead Duke by 6-7 points at the half before they ran us out of the gym second half. GT had won 4 in a row and was playing their best basketball of the year before this game. Duke has won 6 in a row. There are no easy games left!!

Hope this game gets us in the dance.

  23. Playing tournament games in N Carolina is par for the course in the ACC.. I understand that the Sttate is clearly located within the driving distance of the majority of ACC alumni, but it would be nice to see some rotation of venues ( assuming ) that good locations could be agreed upon. Tomorrow’s game with the Dookie s is basically a home game for the Devils

Durham is roughly 80 miles away or an hour and a half driving time. The crowd will be loaded for Duke and the ACC announcers will be rooting their butts off for a team from Carolina…I really miss the amazing games that we had in the once sensational Big East.

  24. Duke is a good team. But not a super team. They are beatable.

It is gonna be a tough one but LB is living his dream in front of his home state fans. For those raised down on Tobacco Road The ACC tourney is King, just like the Garden is King to those from The Big Apple.

Will the Legacy of 2023 grow? The tale has another chapter coming…

    and I am betting so.

  25. Just having the opportunity to beat Duke is huge for Pitt. Pitt looked very tight at times today.
The pressure should be off tomorrow. Would be a huge win for the program.

  26. Watched game on tape. We cannot extend a lead for some reason. Teams Always come back on us. Rebounding a big problem even with 7 footers in there.
Tomorrow we fight Duke and their refs.

  27. Nelly had a rough shooting day, going 3 for 10. The stats have him with 4 assists and 2 turnovers…. He was 4 for 5 on free throws.

Nelly makes some head-scratching plays, but he makes many more clever or savvy plays. Like the drive and bounce pass to Fede, or his adeptness at finishing at the hoop…

I’m hoping that Nelly’s shots are falling tomorrow…

    Go Pitt.

  28. So I’ve listened to Chris Peake and read all the comments and no one has brought up the real second half problem for Pitt that allowed GT to outscore us badly.

They sped Pitt up!! The made Pitt play faster than what they wanted and Pitt collapsed under that pressure. Expect same from Duke.

As far as Nellys play today, he knows he’s not the tallest, quickest, most athletic player but what he does do is play within himself. He’s incredibly smart and disciplined and purposely keeps out of trouble situations. Today he got caught off guard three times and I worry that he’s hurt the way he reacted!

We are really in trouble inside against Duke. Agreed Capel needs a few new wrinkles. Maybe play the twins and Fede and sub guards to keep legs fresh. H2P

  29. This game felt like the last win against GT – Closer than it should have been, but it’s a win….Maybe I’m getting a little spoiled by this team. I was thinking we did not play very well in that second half, then I realize we scored 89 points and 45 of those came in the second half. H2P

  30. I would rather see Elliot shoot from halfcourt than to see him driving to the basket. Seriously. Hinson is a turnover machine when lowering his shoulder. When either of those two drives to the hoop I call it the Christpher Columbus drive. Neither one knows where they are going or what to do when they get there.

  31. Just read that Boeheim is done at Syracuse. Long time assistant Autry (no relation to the singing cowboy) takes over.

    Gonna miss whining Jim.

    1. He’s whining about that too. He said Williams and Bray and Coach K are all working for their schools after retiring but Syracuse hasn’t said anything to him. Maybe because they all retired voluntarily and he had to be deep sixed?

  32. Okay, we seemed to have no answer for Filipowski last game against Duke. He’s a 7-footer.

My suggestion is we have FF and Guillermo use their 10 fouls against him – but as a surprise we turn Jorge loose shooting threes. If Jorge takes some threes and gets into a rhythm, as they say, he will make his share. If he takes 10, I say he hits 4 or 5. (I’ve read where Jorge is supposedly a better 3-point shooter than Guillermo, and I watched GDG hit 34 out of 47 in a pre-game workout…. I know it’s nuts, but I counted them…)

Jorge launching from one corner, Elliot launching from the other whenever we give Hinson a breather…

    Go Pitt.

    1. Capel doesn’t think like that I’m afraid. He’ll play the same 7 he always plays and won’t deviate one iota from what he did against Duke the last time.

  33. WF not going away against Miami … or are the refs keeping them in the game. I’m not watching but the U has 6 more PFs than Wake and Wake has take 9 more FTs. If they were shooting better than 50% from the line, they might be winning.
