  1. Offense: Advantage UCLA
This was the case as soon as Cignetti took the Pitt job. The QB doesn’t matter, the passing game stinks. It’s a run heavy offense. Pitt will score twenty if lucky.

    Defense: Advantage slightly to UCLA
No Kancey, no Dennis, no Hill. Losing three very good players is too impactful. I expect some long runs up the middle by UCLA. Pitt has this issue when players don’t stick to their gaps. New starters, even though most have played will cause issues. No one on Pitt’s D line can come close to getting pressure up the middle like Kancey. All that said, UCLA’s defense is not good.

Pitt’s only chance is to road grade UCLA, dominate time of possession to limit their offensive chances and hit some big plays off of play action. I don’t think Pitt scores twenty and the D gets tired.

    UCLA 35 – Pitt 16

  2. By the way, watched Cignetti’s press interview on Pitt Live Wire. He kissed Narduzzi’s rear end about five times. No one likes a suck up Frank, especially an underachieving one. 🤣

  3. Desperately trying to concoct a scenario where Pitt wins, but can’t do it without venturing into fantasyland. At full strength I liked Pitt’s chances, but losing an All-American D-lineman, an all conference LB, and a talented safety is too much when facing an opponent that scores 40 with regularity, even against teams like Utah and USC. Final score: UCLA 38 – Pitt 34

  4. I’m thinking that Pitt will put up a few points, but the UCLA offense will eventually overwhelm them in the second half. UCLA 38 – Pitt 17.

  5. Is there a UCLA site similar to the POV where their fans are posting predictions? I wonder what they are thinking…

  6. I would actually like to see Pitt win. It’s my alma mater. My first love since ‘76. I just don’t see it happening. And in the end, it doesn’t matter to me. But I’ll be watching this meaningless bowl game. Drinking and cursing. Maybe a fart thrown in there as well.

  7. Hard to believe Pitt scores more than 17 points in this game. I can’t see the Pitt D holding up against the UCLA 1st stringers absent the significant opt outs either. UCLA 38 Pitt 17

  8. My wild guess: Pitt takes advantage of Patti’s running ability and scores more than the “experts” expect. And Patti’s running opens up some other “options” like Bartholomew…

Defense will be an issue, but after a rough start, I think the Pitt defense settles in.

    All of which leads to:
    Pitt — 34
    UCLA — 33

    Go Pitt!

  9. Watching the FSU/ Sooner game…some good games so far…the words “ athletism” and “ physicality” should be prohibited with these lame announcers- that’s my opinion. Listened the Cuse/ Gopher game on the way home from work.. the 2 guys calling the game were great.. entertaining and colorful…almost like listening to Sonny and Sam call a Redskins game

    1. 1 for 10 from 3. Ouch!

This team struggles to score in double figures each quarter. Tough to win that way…

      Go Pitt.

  11. I live in a fantasy land so I have Pitt winning 24-20.
Patti plays well but running game carries the day.
Plan is hoops pregame at Primantis since Hemingways is closed for the holidays, attend Pitt / UNC game, mosey down the hill to Mario’s for the bowl game with Farmers and Scooter.

  12. Who has the better chance of winning: Pitt BB vs UNC or Pitt FB vs UCLA? I say Pitt BB can win this game..

  13. I will root hard for Pitt to beat UCLA, but my prediction is the Panthers fall to the bruins 41-23.

UCLA’s offense too much for Pitt’s 2nd string D that loses their legs in the 4th qtr.

I hope my prediction is grossly wrong!

  14. I can’t make a prediction bc I just don’t know enough. I think it might be a tough day for our boys, though.

I do hope that Nick Patti plays well and can walk away feeling good about his last game at Pitt. He has been the ideal TEAM player, and I would love to see his loyalty rewarded by some success on the field and in life. In an interview he said he didn’t know what his future plans will be, but will probably go into the job market. C’mon boys, win this one for Nick!

  16. At this time (7:13am), there has been 19 predictions. Count favors UCLA 12 to Pitt’s 7.

I will not be predicting a score as I won the last prediction thread. There was some talk that I fixed the final score.

I do believe UCLA will win.

    1. imo probably no better for HIM if he stayed, definitely some better for US

while some here don’t want Dior to ever get on the court for Pitt, I don’t KNOW enough details to wish that and frankly have moved toward trusting Capel on these type of things

let’s shoot well today Pitt MBB
need some motivation Greg Elliott? 🙂
YOU will be one important key to Pitt success

    2. He will make a living in Europe. Playing for Capel with a dysfunctional locker room was not an ideal situation… a very talented player, hopefully, he can get back to the U.S. and make some nice NBA money like Wanamaker.

  18. I still don’t understand Patti starting when he is leaving, I assume Yarnell will also, but I think he should have gotten the nod…either way UCLA wins 21–17…

  19. Real quick. Look for Patti to be high and wild with very little touch, if not the o has a chance.( minus el Cig.) Looking at it objectively, how many teams could win a game vs anybody minus 8 starters, 2-3 of which were all Americans and one is their qb??
All signs point to a romp. If Duzz manages to pull this one out I’ll be impressed, but more than likely another typical 5 loss season. It is disturbing when so many of our guys are opting out. You can see a couple, but this is a pretty big number.
Hoping both of todays games don’t turn into embarrassments, and even though head says they will, hope springs eternal.

    1. Only two might get drafted. The rest are 5 percent odds of practice team…in the Canadian league.

I credit Nick for playing. That shows true character.

So narduzzi preaches these kids are great and everyone loves another and we are family

      Yet the family divorces

  20. Patti gets injured during the coin toss when a strong gust of El Paso wind blows the coin hitting him in the eye.
The big Texan gets the nod in his home state and does well the first couple of series until he realizes that El Paso is more Mexico than it is Texas…or maybe it was that he heard the Taco Bell toll and wandered off for some Nacho Fries.
Once again, Pitt turns to their third stringer to save the day. The Ivy Leaguer uses the Pythagorean theorem to complete a couple passes, but it is not nearly enough to win the battle between the script blue and gold.
