So no word on the status of Dior. It’ll be two weeks tomorrow… I think. It took less time to make the decision to tear down Pitt Stadium!
In my almost 50 years in the corporate world I’ve see these kinds of delays as CYAs. You take extra time to show how serious you are taking this case but the decision has been made. You just want to delay for PRs sake.
Let’s let this kid get on with his life,
either way!! Cmon Pitt!!!
Not how it works fellas. In higher ed, they will need to go through title IX and student conduct hearings, in addition to his criminal issues. Although the criminal part may play out, the rest doesn’t. Unfortunately, the conduct transfers with the athlete students now, so the athlete typically waits things out, knowing his or her best chances of winning in these two administrative areas are with the home organization.
Haven’t watched any hoop games yet as the schedules will now start getting difficult. From what I have seen Syracuse is not doing well. Who knows. All these kids playing for a paycheck, will need more than one ball on the court to keep them happy.
Remember, most aggressive team gets to the foul line the most. Dan, commented on yours earlier in month about pressing teams that press you. We went to the same school of coaching. Teams that full court press, do not like to be pressed. Just saying. Hope you all are well.
Keep in mind that Cuse simply lines up in a 2/3 zone. That zone morphs into 1/3/1 or 2/1/2 depending on how their opponent attacks. Sometimes they even play matchup against hot shooters.
Pitt is shooting the 3s with not many shots in the paint. So fewer opportunities for Cuse to foul. If Pitt gets the transition game going there will be more fouls.
Would reall be great to get Hugley back although Federiko playing well, Diaz Graham not strong enough underneath. Might be a different second half when the shots aren’t dropping as frequently.
But what a great difference from last years team.
Methinks Mintz could be regretting his decision.
This team has been molded to work together and enjoys and trusts each other. I’m hoping Pitt is working with Dior to learn some life lessons so he can come back with some humility and maturity.
Cummings had a good game if he was our shooting guard. Not so much as our point guard.
Mintz is definitely a good one that got away from Capel.
The young man almost lite the Capel dumpster fire last night. He and cuse at the very least poured gasoline on the pieces in the dumpster with their full court press.
Almost every ACC team will look at that cuse tape and elevate their press option in time to use it if needed against this “veteran” Panther team with no PG.
We did win the game against a hated rival. Most Pitt fans should have slept well, although that strong smell of gasoline could have disrupted some.
Teams with short benches are right in front of us on the schedule (UNC & Duke) and therefore we probably won’t see the press again until mid-January.
The win shouldn’t have been that close. They are an aggressive shooting team that went into a defensive shell. And they have got to improve on breaking the full court press and stop those silly turnovers. A mature team shouldn’t be throwing it away.
Not an ideal way to win a game, but basketball is a game of runs. We had ours then Syracuse had theirs. I was not expecting us to blow out Syracuse by 20 at their house. Next time we have a big lead, we need to force them to pick up the ball when inbounding after a Pitt made basket. We probably gave them 12-15 extra seconds by not doing that.
Rumor has it Dior Johnson will be reinstated very shortly. Should be on the floor for Pitt against NC come the 30th. I think it could be a major plus or a major minus if inserting changes everything about how handles the games going forward. The need for a true PG is the major positive if he handles it positively and not makes it an opportunity to conduct a one man show going forward.
RIP Franco. He was instrumental in making Pittsburgh a Football legend.
Judah Mintz is an excellent point guard, lets hope Dior is as talented. Hard to admit that Pitt was very lucky to get a win even after they were dominating with 10 minutes left in the game. At least they shouldn’t be too cocky going into the UNC game.
If Dior is half as good as Mintz and Hugley can get healthy this could be some season.
Not sure who it was, but didn’t like seeing the Pitt player waving and blowing kisses to the fans at the buzzer. He and his mates were lucky to hold on after blowing a 20 point lead with 5-8 min to go.

I’m surprised he hasn’t transferred out already. Texas would take him in a heartbeat. Of course he would have to OK this with his P.O.

Cuse PG and Capel miss (Mintz) is better than any guard on Pitt’s current roster, hands down.
Did you see the move he put on Cummings? Almost put him face down on the court with his juke.

To those weighing Mintz versus Dior; let’s look at half of the equation: Mintz received 20 college offers.
He made one official visit: that would be to Pitt (that’s right, my understanding is that he made no official visit to Arctic Syracuse).
How enjoyable was Coach Capel’s handshake with Mintz after the game.
