  1. What a horrendous game so far. Pitt shooting 25% and NW shooting 20% FG
Combined the teams are 5 for 22 from the field. lol

  2. Shooting picked up quite a bit…Pitt was raining 3’s until Elliot took one.
Hopefully we won’t squander this lead before halftime.

    1. Elliot must have something on Capel

      starter and many minutes

does he hit anything at least in practice?

disappointed with Defensive rebounding so far!

  3. Pitt running and gunning stunning NW with 60% from three. NW used to big ten teams running long complex offenses. But…..Pitt needs to keep making shots. Pitt up 8 w three minutes til half.

  4. Elliot’s game on the O end is standing in the corner bent over with his hands on his knees

every once in a while the ball comes his way and he stumbles on a dribble or shoots a clanker or the ball bounces his way and he fumbles it away

on the d end he floats around and regularly gets driven by and also every once in a while the ball bounces off the rim to him and he stumbles and fumbles and some times actually grabs it

    WTF Capel?

      1. Yea but he went to Marquette…so he must be good. Seems to be the general line of thought.

  5. Funny the announcer were talking up NW’s defensive prowess. So Pitt shoots 60% from 3.
NW depending on the website is picked to finish 12th or 13th in the Big10. So that’s why we keep playing them in the Challenge.

  6. I poked the bear Greg Elliot

drive and fouled then converted FT’s then hits a nice 3

c’mon Greg, keep it up, I’ve got a ton more words to eat

  7. Yep he’s feeling it now…got that 3 to go after it hit off the rim, then high off the bank board and in. Hugely with the foul after Capel got the refs to give the preceding foul to Hinson.
    LOL

      1. Jackagain… I determined long ago that when Madden sits down to write a story, his first objective is to piss as many people off as possible. Meanwhile, most anyone who is actually knowledgeable on the subject, continue to compliment his progress. He is a complete blowhard. I stopped reading his stuff years ago.

  8. Auburn, the 13th ranked team in the country, scored 43 points on this Northwestern team in a game

Pitt scored 50 in one half!!!

    Pitt JUGGERNAUT offense!!!

  9. Kenny gets the big MNF post-game interview. Maybe this was his Pickett’s charge
that broke the Union Madden Line.
Pickett gets the accolades…..Madden eats Crow !!
Pitt wins large and Stillers win…..a good nite indeed for Pittsburgh !

  10. I was always a “take the first available shot coach”. That’s what Capel has this team doing. Run and gun and gun some more! When the shots are falling you have a rout over NW. when they’re not, you have WVU and Michigan! This may turn out to be an interesting year after all! H2P

    1. It could be interesting if they shot like they did tonite. But 14 of 22 from 3 is 64% and they only had 9 turnovers. We’ll find out pretty quick when we play NC State on Friday. The Wolfpack only have 1 loss…..and that was by only 6 points to #9 Kansas.

  11. I wouldn’t expect Pitt to shoot this well going forward particularly when going against a better defensive team. I expect them to revert back. ACC play will be the true test.

Kenny is making progress despite a poor line, poor OC and not enough skill players on O. The D saved the day…for once. Don’t expect a double.

Tomorrow is the very important World Cup day for USA. A win and they’re in…sweet 16.

A Pitt versus Cincy football matchup would be interesting in a bowl. Really not interested in watching Maryland, Wisconsin or some other team projections.

  12. Loved the “things I think I think” from taxing matters on the previous thread…great stuff.
I think that was Phil Musick though that used that header not Gene Collier (who may have used it too)
Anyway great bb win and happy for Kenny too!
Tee time today at 11:30…gotta go, tailgate starts in 5 minutes!

    1. I think you are right about Phil Musick. And also enjoyed taxing’s stream of consciousness.
Was Smizik the “Nobody asked me, but…” guy?

  13. Great shooting night by the Panthers. Also nice passing and better defense. Wouldn’t it be nice if this was the start of something? Looked like a totally different team.

Although I wanted the Steelers to lose out to get higher draft picks it was great to see Kenny have a solid game. Very sharp passing and use of his legs when needed. He is taking some hits though.

  14. there was a stretch where NW looked like they owned the offensive boards and it included time with Hugley in the game

ended up even but I was surprised that happened with him in there, maybe just a run of bad luck bounces but also Pitt not boxing out quite like necessary

anyone find the Capel post game presser video? I don’t see it on LiveWire

  15. Interested in who Cinci picks for a new head coach, they seem to be very good at it.
Auburn’s pick a real head scratcher.

    1. Cincy is certainly due for a miss in their coaching search…

We have to hope they haven’t seen Lone Star’s list!

      Go Pitt.

    1. Not sure I wold agree with “no” reason. He will need to see what the draftniks project him at. Kenny was projected as a low round choice and came back to improve his stock. Wayne doesn’t impress me as a 1st or second day pick. Another year with the same QB might help his draft stock. Gotta weigh that vs potential injury.

      1. Wayne has played well, I don’t see how he improves his draft position by staying. Lots of great wide receivers, he needs to get on a roster and make a team. I like his chances.

Sorry about Tiquan, not his fault Addison left but other than Wayne his guys didn’t do much, again maybe not his fault but the supposed future guys Bradley and Barden are gone.

Again, maybe not his fault but recruits are decommitting and not really elite guys anyway.

After QB, receivers are the most important position in football today, you won’t win without good ones.

So far not much positive to point to, but without Wayne, next year will be the real challenge.

  16. In September I took a Vegas line bet …Bart vs Wolfe for most touchdowns this year…
I took Wolfe at +3 and won a small fortune. 🥳🥳

  17. I MISSED A DOOZY OF A NIGHT>>>family gathering. So, I have been trying to catch up on both the Stillers and The Panthers and the news was the best that I have heard in quite awhile. From the reports of the Steelers, it sounds like Kenny had a very good night and he is growing into his position as an NFL QB. Progress is very positive, and he will have his off days, however, from what I have been reading he is on the right track…but, as we all know he needs a better supporting cast.

The basketball score amazed me. Northwestern gave Auburn a run for its money and while it is not a powerhouse it is well coached with senior players. Shooting over 60% from 3 point range looks like a misprint….beyond belief. Hugely must have been hurt or in serious foul trouble because he played less than 15 minutes and scored zilch. Elliot who has seemed lost on the court in some games must have had his Wheaties>>>>Burton, Cummings and Hinson were all according to the box score ON FIRE! On to the Wolfpack a real test for Capel.

    1. When Hugely was in they had three guys guarding him in the paint leaving guys open at the 3 point line and they were drilling them, amazing night.

  18. Joe Starkey on the FAN today said KP could have been 25-28 minus drops and bad routes by receivers.
Said he watched replays of every throw multiple times.
