To get a discussion started here are some links,
The ACC’s bowl tie-in’s:
https://theacc.com/sports/2022/1/31/FB_0131224420.aspx
Another link to consider is this one from College Football News (CFN). I suggest you read it because outside of the Orange Bowl there is no pecking order in the ACC. Be aware that Notre Dame will probably take the second or third best bowl.
Notice there is no MAC conference official tie-in. At this time, including Notre Dame, there are 10 bowl eligible ACC teams.
Two other teams can be bowl eligible if they win their last game – Georgia Tech vs. Georgia and Miami vs. Pitt
I was going to delete the prior article, but there were already comments being made.

I have no idea on how I got the CFN link to show up that way. To read the article, click on “College Football Bowl Ties…..” . Once opened, scroll down to ACC article.

Well when it comes to bowls, the committees like to see good matchups or some interesting backstory. They also desire teams with large traveling fan bases.
I’m not sure who I’d like to see Pitt play. Most likely it will be against some school ranked between 25 and 45. And I don’t blame any fan these days if they don’t travel to a meaningless bowl game where most draft eligible players will sit out.
So unless it’s a game near you and you can take the day off, you’re probably going to watch the game on tv. Some might not even bother. I only plan on watching the playoffs and whoever Pitt and Texas play. But Texas won’t have bijan so I’ll probably cross that game off.
And they should outlaw bowl locations north of the mason dixon. Even Carolina isn’t that warm in late December.
Need to expand to a 8-12 team playoff. Pitt would have made it last year. I don’t see Pitt making it unless they get another Kenny. They need a better OC to attract one.

While I agree that Pitt and any football team needs an elite QB, I think it has more to do with NIL and a schools rep than it does with the coordinator. Whipple was here for three years and didn’t close on a great one. Pitt just isn’t going to win many recruits over ND or other Football Factories.
I really doubt that Minchey’s decision had anything to do with Cig. A week before he changed his mind he was enrolling at Pitt in January. He left because the Gipper came calling with a bag full of cash and all the Glitz of the most famous football factory next to Alabama.
It is the same as those saying Addison left because of Cig to strengthen their POV as if 3 million and a house and the lure of LA had nothing to do with it.

GC you may be correct that the Minchey decision was all about a NIL deal but he never said he was enrolling at Pitt early only that he was planning to enroll early at whatever school he chose. All Pitt fans assumed that he was referring to Pitt for obvious reasons since that was the school he was committed to when he announced his early enrollment plan.

Pitt will be fighting to win a better bowl this week and to keep Miami out of a bowl against a team they rarely beat.
I’m another one that doubted KP’s upside as an NFL QB, but I think he is doing pretty well, considering the porous O-line and only Pickens and Friermuth as strong targets. I still don’t believe he has the natural talent to be an elite QB, but with a stronger cast he can be a winner.
I hate to root against him, but the Steelers need to lose out to restock with Quality players.
This really goes for next year as well.

But what does better mean. Just a warmer climate because all the schools share the bowl money. But how much better is a bowl day in New York or Boston compared to a bowl far away in Texas or down in Birmingham. I think all the bowls stink except for the big ones.

Agree, GC. I root for Kenny to do well but the Steelers to lose. They need offensive linemen, defensive linemen, middle backers, and a corner — at the minimum…
(Would like to see KP have some games where he doesn’t throw more than one or two ugly passes…. Don’t know if it’s “slipp-ses” or what…)
Go Pitt.

Losing can be a good thing…that’s how we got the first 4 Super Bowl wins and a couple of Canucks named Mario and Sid!!!

Thanks for the information. I found everything easy to get to. Prefer PITT goes to the Cheese It bowl as I like that snack.

It will be interesting to see how many elite players choose to stay in college one more year because they can make more NIL money than a first year NFL contract.

I agree Cig had nothing to do with Addison leaving. Addison obviously made a wise choice and bagged some money.

I would take the nfl rookie contract over a bag of nil money. If you are first round potential, you go. You don’t stay to collect money from some booster club. The future money is in the pros.

If a player is a first or second round pick why risk an injury by staying the extra year playing semi-pro college football. I have no doubt that most potential high draft choices will pass on NIL $$ for a future in the NFL. When Tex is right he is RIGHT!

Rumor has it Addison bagged a beachfront condo, a Bentley and 7 figures. Does anyone know?

So Pitt’s two best players Izzy and Kancy were unable to finish the game. Hoping they can play on Saturday. Will make it really tough if they can’t.

Cheeze-It Bowl in Orlando >>nice and warm. another Bowl where we can lose to a team that is our equal or less. Nothing like pre- game preparation from an outstanding coaching staff…hmmm.

How this happened even after Pitt got blown out by Louisville was that Ohio State had an even worse weekend. They lost two matches to two unranked teams, Maryland and Indiana. Towson clinched a spot in the NCAA tournament as well.

I told that:
The US goal in the World Cup today was scored by Tim Weah, cousin of former Pitt WR Jester Weah…
Go Pitt.

Pitt bowl participation in Boston or NY or Annapolis are just not much fun. I’ve been to the Pinstripe and Military bowls once each and frankly will never go again.

And I am the anti-Taxingmatters78….
I will go to Manhattan or Annapolis for a bowl. Both are fun locations, regardless of how meaningless the game is. Lots of side benefits to going. Met Reed and BigB in Annapolis for one and met lots of folk in NYC. Even had dinner with Reed at Rosie O’Grady’s as well!
Would go to Boston, but have a family birthday.
No to El Paso or Charlotte for me.

I’m with Taxing on this one. I love Annapolis and New York is a great place to visit . But not in December.
If I’m going to a meaningless bowl it’s gotta be somewhere sunny and warm.

I’m somewhere between Taxing and JoeL, as I would consider going back to Annapolis but think I would skip the Pinstripe Bowl, which really wasn’t a great venue for a FB game.
