  1. For 12 minutes as the Pitt band came on the field until game time,
The discussion was Penn State. If u didn’t know better that’s the game on tv.

  2. hail to pitt! new here but i’m a refugee from the old pittblather/cardiachill.

good to see the panthers score. even just 3 points makes it worth it

  3. First quarter thoughts? Here’s mine:

    1. They don’t quite look like a national championship team (and that’s sarcasm)
    2. has the O-line regressed since last year?
    3. WVU clearly trying to stop the run. Credit to Cignetti for adjusting on that FG drive.
    4. Slovis okay. Some good throws on that drive. Doesn’t seem to have the icewater in his veins like pickett
    5. Only one pitt penalty. WIN
    6. The crowd.
    7. D looks solid so far.

  4. So how bout those short Pitt D backs??? I hope it’s just adrenaline so far but Pitt lines need to Strat winning some battles!

  5. How is the supposed best D line in the country getting completely neutralized by an average offensive line? Zero pressure

  6. Man with all the hype, I’d have thought we’d be up by 17 points by now. I’m not going go as far as to say same old pitt…yet.

  7. I like what Dickerson said on the raido call. “the o-line just needs to take a deep breath. You’ve been doing it all august. Just move some people”

  8. Yeah Reed, I’ve Being surprised by all the new faces. Because they’re taking a while to adjust. As are our veterans alongside them..
Wtf is going on with our new punter? Looks CC in his first year.

  9. well here we are at 10-10

Always take the underdog in a rivalry game that’s been put on ice for 11 years

Either they are better than we think

Or we are worse than we think

    Lets see…2nd half

  10. So all of you that made fun of my prediction and wanted me to take my meds. How you feeling now!

The right side of the Hoopie O line is utterly collapsing our defense.

What a gift we gave them! Many more mistakes by Pitt than WVU.
Breaks are part of the game. We hung the our our heads on D after the big break.

I hope all you predictors who have Pitt overwhelming WVU in the second half are correct.

  11. I fear this is going to be a l o n g game. WVU is looking better on run defense and we’ve still got AJ at CB…
Both our Offense and Defense look uncoordinated. Right Reed?
Hope they stick with Hammond. And use some Daniel Carter some more in Half 2/
(Israel A. looks a shell of himself — weak even.)
This version of Cignetti reminds me of why I didn’t like him at Pitt the first time around; he’s predictable, no play action, seems amateur after Whipple. So I ain’t down with the play-calling until they can count on the personnel they’re using to implement Cig’s schemes.
Please tell me our Punter is better than he looked, ffksakes.

  12. So i’m going to start a thing. I’m going to use the phrase “same old pitt” to measure the “same old pitted-ness of this game” If i get all three words out, we are offically same old pitt

    Same

  13. Another mistake. Exactly as I predicted ! Typical Duzz coached team no attention to detail. Pits O line is average at best. Not only will Pitt lose this game but it won’t be close !!

  14. Radio guys pointing out that he tried this one right footed and his others were left footed.

    It was the foot!!!!

  15. So Pitt comes out of half scratching their asses then another horrible mistake. Say it with me Duzz cannot coach!

  16. Slovis had some ability but looks pretty average overall. Not mobile in the pocket. Probably needs another year.

    H2P!

  17. Ladies and gentlemen… the “best” D line in the country is getting pushed around by a below average offensive line on a below average team. Virtually every play.

  18. Actually not below average. they were pretty good last year and have a lot of returning starters. But still. We should be doing better.

  19. Offensive line no better. Hammond doing it with no holes all by himself. Our supposed strength is a clear weakness against a mediocre team. How does this happen over a summer with the same guys? We’re defenses that afraid of Kenny?

  20. Looks like Kedon Slovis could’ve used Whipple’s tutelage afterall. And what’s up with the Gomer Piles look on his face every time these turkey’s go 3-n-out? Like “golly gee, darn.” I hope he proves me wrong but I dont see any zip on his ball and he’s looking pretty Average-at-best tonight…

    1. I didnt and wasnt going to buy-in until I actually saw Kedon play a game. It certainly looks like 6-7 from this vantage point.

  21. Hey Whip,
    Duz here…you know…Pat.
Got any plays in your black bag?
Yeah, I know…threw you under the bus a bit.
Anyway, Nebraska ain’t working out so how about…yeah, I know you’re under contract and I was going to fire you…
    So, no plays then?

  22. You cannot take that sack!! Throw the frickn ball away. Again 53 beaten like a turnstile. I’ve had it w a Slovis! He’s slow deliberate and overly cautious. Just what got him benched at usc. It’s all WVU now

  23. Offensive and defensive lines pathetic. Quote from a Narduzzi last week “ we are 2 deep with starters” … maybe at Clarion. They read the press clippings. Spent too much time at steakhouses. Slow and weak.

  24. Another total embarrassment on national TV. Never seen a Narduzzi team rise to the occasion when its a major national televised game. All in all another famous Pitt choke when the stadium is full and recruits are in the house. Total failure.

  25. Insert Narduzzi saying the ACC Championship is still in play and this is non conf. Sweaty lip is stealing 5M a year. He sucks.

  26. Had ’em all the way! Didn’t give up. Got stronger in Q4. Hats off to WVU. They played a hwlluva game.

  27. Credit where it’s due….we win the second ugliest girl contest but didn’t win first prize!

Bright spot – Rodney TOOk the starting job and did it on his own with no blocking. Tough kid.

  28. The blocking by our defenders after Devonshire’s INT was exceptionally well done.

    That was a “go-down-in-Pitt-history play.”

    Go Pitt.

  29. From Jim Hammett at Rivals.com

Slovis was sacked five times, and some, if not all of them were on him. Pat Narduzzi said he was ‘slow’ at getting the ball out on Thursday, and that was a more than fair assessment.

Comment: why ride the slow horse to ‘almost’ lose the game? If the QB competition was so close as has been reported, why not give Nick Patti a shot at giving the offense a spark.

Tennessee has speed and really good to great athletes. A slow QB will be feasted upon. Pitt’s OL struggled mightily as well.
