  12. For all the POVers who are going to Charlotte, if you can’t get into the hotel you want I’d check again tomorrow and Monday. Perhaps by then any NCST or Clemson fans who had reservations will have cancelled them and rooms will be available.

  17. University of Maryland Baltimore County. Pulled the biggest upset in NCAA history as a 16 seed beat 1seed UVA. Love to have their coaching staff at Pitt!

  20. Sad to say but, it’s time to move on from Capel and the entire staff. This will not get any better and will only be a matter of time before the players stop trying and abandon ship. Could it be possible it gets so bad we can’t field a team?

  21. This needs to be done. What an absolute embarrassment. At some point the coaches have to be held accountable. We’re losing the zoo. I think changes should happen mid-season if possible. Not sure who would be able to take the spot, though.

    Seems like Capel has failed his Duke audition.

    They stuck with him and it paid huge dividends.

    1. In Michigan’s case, I agree. Not so sure about Pitt’s. Narduzzi is finally having a breakout season and by doing so buys himself some time and respect for now. When Sherrill was winning he had 9-1-1, 8-4, 11-1, 11-1, 11-1 seasons. I’m aware he had help from the Golden Panthers, help that Narduzzi does not have. But has Narduzzi built a program for the future? How long will we wait to get another Kenny Pickett or Nate Peterman? Michigan has had a winning program all along, just not at the level fans wanted until this year.

      But compared to Capel, Narduzzi deserves sainthood. He knows how to handle the people who count the most: his players. He keeps his players out of the press and out of jail. As a Pitt alum and fan, I’m very thankful to Coach Narduzzi for that.

    2. Completely different in my opinion. Michigan coach recruited top 10-15 classes every year, won many games each year, just couldn’t get past OSU. Today he did. Michigan exploited OSU lack of run defense that was exposed against Oregon earlier in year.

      Plus Harbaw is a Mich man. Michigan fired rich rod, hoke and maybe one more a bit early and bought em out, so not sure it was Michigan culture, rather they think they have the right guy because he wins alot of games.

  29. The fact that there are few basketball comments on here is telling. Anyone defending Capel and Lyke is either blind to reality, not a Pitt fan or loving the chaos.

    How will Pitt basketball get through the season? Capel should be fired on Monday. A high school basketball coach would be better than him.

    Looks like a shrinking fan base. And give Capel time, he’ll run off the whole team.

  30. Well, Capel was the AD’s first big hire. Attendance dwindles. I think she is not putting pressure on comcast because she wants noone to see what has happened to the Pete under her watch.

    Anyone figure out how many times Capel was extended and when his contract expires? His downfall has been his brother and his players dictating how the program runs.

    It “could” be more of the team, but the culprit of this again was Big John who was fighting with Burton in the 2nd half when the game was slipping away. Both repeatedly screwed up on defense and at one point were blaming each other on the floor when they failed to communicate defensively. Both were bad on defense last game and both of them should be blaming themselves and not one another.

    John has to get it together mentally. Ill give Burton a pass because he just came back from injury, but he should be a lot better than what he has shown so far on defense.

    Players fighting each other on the floor and off the court during the game? No wonder players flee Capel.
