      1. Yes, of course. However, the article also could be a critical examination of the ontology of Pitt’s football program.

      1. Pitt would be middling in the Mountain West as well. As we all know, more often than not,
Pitt plays down to the competition. See BC the 2 years. See the last 2 NC state games, see Delaware the other year, etc.

    1. It is reasonable for a coach to hit that mark if he is good.

It’s not conceivable to consistently hit it

But once every 4-5 years would be nice to hit 10-11 wins. A final 10-15 ranking.

With the average season win total at 8-9. And consistent top 25 teams.

      That’s a very reasonable ask.

    1. I was off by two goals. But knew how coach J would break them. Frankly it was an easy game plan. He had the players to execute it.

It will be tougher against central Florida. But I still expect a pitt win in a closer game. Maybe 4-2 or 3-1 or 2-0.

That would put them on a path to meet Washington in the quarters.

Game this Thursday at 3 pm eastern.

  2. How can anyone seriously defend Narsnoozy. He’s 26 wins and 24 losses over the last 4 years.
In the easiest P5 division of the easiest conference of the 5.

He’s getting paid over $4 MILLION dollars a year. Are you serious ???

  5. Narduzzi has to win 9/10 games this season not including the bowl game he won’t because he is what he is.

If he wins 7/8 when you do an internet search for mediocrity his name will be your number one choice.

Is Brennan Marion the OC for the 2022 season or is he the OC for this season due to Mr. Whipple being mostly inept and holding on just due to Pickett returning?

    WE ARE MEDIOCRE!!!

  8. This idea that Pitt would be better in a supposed lesser conferences is hogwash.
Pitt would be middling or worse in ANY conference it played it in. (and it pains me to say it)
Because there is no commitment to winning on a consistent basis. Regardless of
conference, if there is no commitment, you ain’t(emphasis) gonna win consistently

The results of the last 30 years more than supports it. Since 1991 we have played in the weakest
conference among major schools, that being the BigEast. And then joined the weakest football
conference of the P5(the ACC). And doubling down on that, we are in the weakest division of the weakest
football conference of the P5(the Coastal).

Pitt’s Record since 1991, when the BigEast conference for football was formed is:

    183 Wins
    182 Losses

    Let that Sink in !

And I’d flip a penny I found on the street.

Pitt paid over $100 million for these results. That’s a lot of pennies.

    2. So why on earth would you think we are suddenly going to win 9 or 10 games.
A new coach won’t change a thing. Maybe make it worse.
All the rants in the world won’t change that.

      1. A new coach would win more than Narduzzi. You just need to find that coach. Pitt has no obstacles. No excuses. It also has no will or desire. No accountability. Hence a mediocre coach is extended and allowed to continue mediocrity.

        1. Or be worse, Johnny II, Paul Hackett, Michael Haywood. Paul Chryst was 19-19, Todd Graham was 6-6.
Pitt has such a great track record of finding that coach. Narduzzi’s record is 36-29 by the way, you don’t get to look at the last 4 years.

He might be guilty, but that had not been established as fact yet. Remember how AD was declared guilty last month before the videotape was released? If true, say goodbye to some guaranteed money and hello to an additional clause or two regarding off the field behaviors.

Weaver will not escape the NFL Commish if the Antonio Brown investigations are an indication. The business side is that the largest growth segment of season ticketholder’s for the NFL are women. Great for them and also the real reason the NFL takes these things more seriously now. Wish the Pitt student well and a full recovery for the undeserving woman. Awful to read, true or not true. Pitt is in the news today.

If a student, Pitt AD should have been on the story. If a student, Pitt might be covering this up. What would be a blessing would be that if Nardstop (short selling) knew and didn’t report it to the AD. Will put them in conflict.

  22. Back to football, I would rather Pitt be an above average team (defined as 8 wins a year) that plays good P5 competition such as Tennessee or ND once a season, than a 9 win team that plays Bowling Green or Georgia State (who Auburn plays) each year. I’m just not going to attend a Mercer (who Alabama plays) Pitt game at Heinz Field, and they would be lucky to get 10,000 fans for such a match up.

I think that fans of mediocre teams live for the occasional upset since they are not going to sniff the top 10 anytime soon. Hence, we are still talking about the 13-9 WVU upset, not that crushing Austin Peay victory.

    1. Its a balancing act. I agree. But Pitt has no business playing schools whose fans won’t travel. Who aren’t historical rivals. And who aren’t located in the ACC recruiting footprint. Pitt has no business playing any New England or Mac school. And that includes UB my beloved alma mater.

Just as no one remembers the tough teams you play, just the losses and record (see 2018 Pitt season as an example).

And a high-flying Oklahoma State team came to Heinz and no one was there either. Anyone who wants Ohio State at Heinz, you’ll bounce when once the blowout is in process.

PITTSBURGH – Get ready for the latest fast break in the empowerment of college athletes: Duquesne University has hired a “personal brand coach” to teach its basketball players how to profit from social media.

Duquesne, which competes in the mid-major Atlantic 10 Conference, announced Monday that Jordon Rooney will work with student-athletes to navigate upcoming NCAA rule changes that will allow them to earn money from their name, image and likeness, also known as NIL. Athletes will soon be able to be paid for things such as endorsing products, appearing in commercials or signing autographs.

Ok so let’s say the kid, also gets into trouble (ala Weaver if it’s true) and degrades the University’s image.

If Pitt can be ranked in the top 25, they will most likely be a two seed in a pod of 4 at a regional. Projections are Knoxville with the Vols as a number one. Or Lubbock with the red raiders hosting.

Tennessee is ranked 7. Tech is 13. Tech is the easier draw.
