  1. “We have to understand we’re not as good as we thought we were,” Capel said. “That’s one of the main things. It’s hard for young guys to understand that when we’re just against each other. There’s a feeling we had that we’re really good. We have a chance to be good, but we have to understand that all of these things are required to have a chance to be good.

“If you don’t have energy, it’s not going to happen. If you don’t value the basketball, it’s not going to happen. I don’t care what your talent is — it’s not going to happen. That’s where we have to learn.”

  2. No fans, no band, no cheerleaders and no fundamentals…and then add in the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
make these games almost unwatchable. Football at least allowed in thousands of fans and the band
to create a little bit of an atmosphere.

  3. generally better hustle but not being consistently sustained

I’d yank on intensity and effort,,,Brown might never play for me, and a couple other not much

  4. From CBS:

“Drexel figures to provide some tough matchups for the Panthers, as senior forward James Butler and point guard Camren Wynter were first-team preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association choices.”

  5. Looking better today. Disappointed that Horton has done very little in two games. Capel talked about him last year like he was the best player on the team.

  6. Brown is lazy and he stinks as a player. I’ve never seen so much potential wasted. The guy has no clue on fundamentals.

  7. That Champ turnover is what annoys me. The guy can play great in spurts but then gets lazy and turns the ball over.

  8. Pitt hasn’t scored in 3 minutes – Drexel cuts lead to 7 with 7 to go. The theme I’m seeing in the last 3 minutes is sloppy basketball – turnovers and fouls…

  9. Drexel has way too many points in the paint. What’s going to happen when we play bigger ACC teams? Capel better coach up Hugley soon. Maybe can defend down low.

    1. What’s going to happen ? We’re going to get destroyed inside and lose large. Hugley got very few minutes today against a 3rd rate conference bottom feeder. And only a few remaining non-con games.

  10. Hey at least Bball did or will outscore Clemscum’s football team. Barring some planned super national embarrassment of Pitt.

But they didn’t cover against a scrub team, had to play the Starters mega minutes and shoot 62% to get a 9 point win over a 3rd rate conference, bottom feeder (the Dragons even finished below Elon). haha

BC and GT and Wake are the ONLY possible ACC wins. Sounds like last year a lot.

  11. Pitt wins and can move on to the next game. We’re feeling the affects of a poor first-full class by Capel as it is just Justin providing a lot. What a shame there aren’t better shooters and defenders in the top seven of the rotation.

  12. Fire Capel. He’s obviously not a good coach. And people thought he was coach in waiting a Duke. What a joke.

This whole athletics program save soccer and volleyball are jokes.

Pitts jokester wears a yellow blouse.

  13. Better game. They definitely need Nike, however. Get that 4th scorer and bring Horton off the bench as that 6th man sharp shooter. I know people panicked after that first game but they improved. They are still missing a big piece that I think Capel was expecting. Nike was a really big part of the blueprint for this season.

  14. Pitt BBall might win one more game vs Gardner Webb, that’s it. If they get within 10 of the worst ACC team, it will be a miracle. What a motley crew of basketball “players?” Capel has collected.

  15. Capel seems to attract recruits without discipline. Johnson is out of control. No team play. These guys are nothing like the good teams and players PITT had during the up years of Dixon

  16. Pitt player describing time spent on a Narduzzi coached team:

“As an individual, you can’t really say you did good with five losses. I don’t really see how you can be too proud of it,” Weaver said. “You can ask anybody; this is not the goal we had for this team. We thought every game on our schedule was winnable. College football is all about consistency. We just haven’t been consistent enough. Obviously, it’s a failure within what we had our goals set on. We didn’t reach our goals.”
