    1. LA Tech playing in front of a home crowd. Big game for them. Pretty meaningless for Miami. Miami did use three different quarterbacks though.

    2. Agreed. When I saw Miami getting blanked , I said,
“Ouch.” But then I remembered it’s a team sport. La. Tech. – the alma mater of one Terry Bradshaw- had 23 Seniors with 6 Bowl wins in a row.
      Maturity , experience, and teamwork.

Oh-oh….Eastern Michigan is marching down the field.

  3. Pitt will need to score 30 plus to win this game. I’d be playing D with 6 DB’s, 4 down lineman and one LB. You have to invite them to run the ball. Narduzzi’s stop the run first won’t work if they don’t even attempt to run.

  4. EMU has come to play with a wide open offense. Pitt is a step slow. At least they held for a field goal. I didn’t feel that Heather gave Narduzzi a complete vote of confidence, but once again she used the tired old line that after 5 years he “is continuing to grow as a coach”. I guess this means that after 10 years he will have REALLY grown as a coach. But does it mean any more wins?

    2) I think there are turnovers to be had on this QB. Couple of tipped balls go the other way and viola

However if they lose it will be for 4 Negatives
    1) Nardog’s legendary halftime adjustments

All that said this rests entirely on Nard. We are again unprepared to play on offense or defense. I h8 zone blocking OL which is awful. Ultimately this falls on the coach and it is time he goes. 104. Really embarrassing to be a Pitt fan right now. How can anyone be optimistic about this team? I didn’t think it was possible but we have actually gotten worse over the last few games.

  107. jrn…..reynolds transferred because narduzzi promised a starting job to johnson thru the portal. I would transfer too. The portal should be used when there is a definite upgrade only or it kills morale.

We should use the portal for a new coach and new AD.

  108. I would like to apologise for all of my previous negative posts. Narduzzi clearly has this program pointed up. After this loss, Pitt will be 30-30 against FBS teams in Narduzzi’s tenure. If we pull it out, we’ll be 31-29. Simply outstanding. Clearly, I’ve been wrong all along.

  111. I hope the Narduzzi comments that Picket is the starter next year were only made for his confidence for the bowl game. Otherwise there is NO BENEFIT to making that statement right now. Our young qb’s should absolutely have the opportunity to unseat Picket next year.

  116. Wait I thought this was Narduzzi’s defense now? I thought he finally had the players he wanted in the secondary? Yet they have given up 416 yards. 287 in the air.

Any optimists give me anything after tonight please see the simulated hand I am holding up in response.

Sorry, it’s over. Coach Narduzzi needs to go. You give 5, 10, 25 years the results will be the same.

This is when you can look at Reed’s outlook and say that….absent the 96 yarder, pickett didn”t have a great game. He didn’t. He cannot be your leader going into the fall kick-off, unless the other qb’s are bad.

I wonder if pitt goes after jurcovec in the portal, and pryts, and a head coach, and an oc, and an AD.

    1. Just for fun… but Pickett DID hit that 96 yarder (although at least half of it was ffrench RAC).

Also he (as Kenny is wont to do) made plays when it counted.

Ffrench probably should have gotten the award though. Left it all on the field and had a great game at WR.

Pitt was exactly where it belonged in the ACC bowls this year and it showed.

  141. It still feels better than a loss, but so many problems. and no discipline.

Offensive and defensive play calling boggles the mind.

How can Pickett look so bad, take dumb sacks and then finish with two touchdown drives.

How can you call such a crap third down play, then punt when you should have gone for it,

and come our smelling like a rose.

By the way, to anyone other than a PITT Fan, that may have been the most entertaining game all bowl season.

I almost feel bad for their QB who played one hell of a game.

  143. You see teams play flat all the time in bowl games. Miami got shut out today for god sake. The real concern for me was the lack of discipline and it really should have cost us the game. I don’t recall that being a major problem throughout Narduzzi’s career but it has to be priority number one going into next year.

  144. This team was not very good for most of the season…In fact, they regressed and saved some of their worst play for the final half of the season. The bowl game played in was the bowl game earned. The opponent was in our ballpark from a performance perspective. So, I was not the least bit surprised by the team’s play tonight. At least it was entertaining for any sports channel surfers that may have stumbled upon this game.

Well, look at the bright side…after the last 5 seasons, and looking to what the track record shows will happen season ticket sales and attendance will drop to the point that Pitt will comfortably share Carnegie-Mellon’s stadium without having to do much seat upgrades…when the Steeler’s move on from Heinz….finally an almost On-Campus venue!!!!

You better be 3-0 heading into a home game against Notre Dame before going into conference play. 3-1 is acceptable.

    Anything else is unacceptable.

      1. I am in agreement with 10 wins. Just really a high bar for the old Nardog. I expect he will lose to ND so 3-1 going into conference play means at a minimum 6-2 in conference play plus a bowl win (or I guess beating Clemson in the ACC championship game 🙂 ).

So given what I have seen of him…I think the odds are low of 10. I think at best 5-3 in conference play and loses bowl game (and if they happen to wind conference Clemson will make sure to remind him of his statement on his eventual besting of them). So either 0-1 or 0-2 in post season play to find Pitt at

        8-5 or 8-6.

Pretty interesting comment from formerly known homer Dokish on Twitter tonight:

You small group of fans that see the positive in everything Pitt does, and wants nobody to criticize them, are a big part of the problem. If you don’t demand more from the university when it comes to athletics, then they have no reason to give you more.

  147. Great message tonight from Gasman..

    “Post-game presser:

HCPN: We ran into a buzzsaw tonight. They were hungry and well-coached. Lucky to pull a W.
Reporter: You had over a month to prepare against a 6-6 MAC team and yet u barely won. Can you explain?
HCPN: We had a lot of adversity: Couldn’t find the WiFi password at halftime to plan my trip. Italy. So excited! Then to add to the problems, Ulizio can’t find his passport. As you can imagine, I was going nuts.
Reporter: somehow, someway, your team pulled this out. How?
HCPN: It all starts at the top with Heather. She arranged to play the shittiest bowl-eligible on the planet. Hats off to her.
Reporter: And you think that will help the program?
HCPN: It’ll help me; I get a bonus for the win. In fact, I can see after this come-from-behinder that I’ll be mentioned along side Southerland, Majors and Sherill. I could see my number being retired.
Reporter: Coach, you don’t have a number.
HCPN: Sure I do, 3.5M. Best number in the world!”
