  1. Here’s a statistical nugget.

Ryan Luther, who hasn’t played since December 9, holds a two offensive rebound edge over the combined offensive rebound total of Kene Chukwuka and Terrell Brown.

Luther had played 325 minutes. Chukwuka and Brown have combined for 656 minutes thus far. Pitt is shooting 42% from the field as a team.

Chukwuka and Brown have however combined for 7 more 3 point attempts than Luther while shooting a combined 21% from the arc. Luther had been shooting 39% from the arc.

    1. I think Otis’s record at Pitt, both combined and conference only indicates he’s a big Zero riding out his career until retirement.

Only a poorly run place like Pitt would have even hired this turd.

In any event Luther still leads Chukwuka and Brown combined in offensive rebounds on the year. He’ll have been out two months in a little more than a week.

  26. Pitt Basketball is dead to me. I/we didn’t create the hoax hiring of KS …Barnes Gallagher and the BOT did. But mostly Barnes…whether he was brought in by the BOT and Gallagher to kill off Dixon or whether he did it on his own…Barnes is THE man. I spent my last business years being a take no prisoners hard ass so here’s my deal. Gallagher has to have something on Barnes. Call him, tell him to take KS off Pitt’s hands or else! No pay out. Just take him to Oregon State. Now Pitt is free and clear of$$. Then find someone competent…not Heather for Gods sake…someone …a Pitt Man to find us a new coach. And while we’re at it …let’s replace this incompetent Penn State bitch who is running the women’s b-ball program.

After that, let’s kindly say good by to all the PSU Alums running the BOT and anyone else on the BOT that does not have Pitt’s best interest at heart. Pitt Basketball is a money drawing disgrace which is ruining what brand we have left! That is a disaster that cannot be replaced by money.

“I’m not going to say this because her dad and brother are out here (at the luncheon),” he said. “It’s a fact, and I’ll say it anywhere, anytime — Heather Lyke is incredible.

“Thank God I was on that committee because it was an opportunity to see firsthand who she was as a person, her care for the student-athlete and her enthusiasm.

“I couldn’t say anything better about the type of person she is. I’ve never had an AD — as an assistant coach, a GA and now as a head coach — who has been more involved.

“She works like a coach. She’ll answer the phone at 5 a.m. It’s like, ‘What are you doing up this early?’ Then at 11:30, same thing. Emails, texts, phone calls. Heather is like a sister to me. It feels like that kind of relationship.” ~ Narduzzi

  27. I don’t understand why KS sees no value in offensive rebounding. They take their three and run to the other end. No one follows their own shot which is a pretty basic way to get put back baskets. Tonights game was like watching two teams run the same style only with superior athletes on one side. Except that Miami worked for offensive rebounds. Blair made a living with offensive rebounds and put backs. I get that the centers are too frail, but Stevenson and Wilson-Frame have the bulk to take up space underneath.

I just don’t see Stallings ever being a winner. He will never get the talent to match the top ACC teams and his system stinks. What offensive genius doesn’t value offensive rebounds?

    Like

    1. You’re exactly right with Brown and Chuck being…I won’t say frail, but they need to bulk up. Also agree that Stevenson and Wilson-Frame could get it done. However, of all the players on this team, they remind me the most of Artis and Young. Stevenson will probably turn out to be a decent power forward, but doesn’t seem to get it yet on the offensive rebound end. Frame, I think, will always want to be a point guard.

  28. It was nice to see the team make a little run in the second half, but then Miami put on the afterburners.
Pretty much any ACC team is going to that. I don’t expect it to be any different next year with this coach.

They may be incrementally better, but much of the conference reloads every year and have much better coaching. Barnes is gone, the only one left to blame is Gallagher and he is the only one that can do anything about it.

He wasn’t in his usual seat for the Syracuse game, maybe he has given up too. I know I won’t be back next year unless there is real change.

Well our fathers saw Doc Carlson coach,
Spent their weekends at the Fitz Fieldhouse for sure,
Met our mothers at the Dirty O,
Asked them to share an Iron,

And it’s getting very hard to stay,
Can someone save us from this Stallingstown?

For days of athletic glory Pitt has never found,
For Chancellor Posvar went and shot them down,
Ruining athletic programs for academics only goes so far,
    the front porch is scarred!
So the Helms Foundation Banners and Donn Hennon’s hang on the wall
And Kevin Stallings and various AD’s never really helped us at all,
No final four or five star recruits,
    Birch and Adams were flops,
The last few years our academic rating has dropped…
And we’re waiting here in Stallingstown

Pitt under Stallings is currently 4-24 in conference and 24-32 overall. Those loss numbers will likely increase by 8 or 9 at season’s end.

Attendance averaging 4000-5000 reported per game. Stallings being booed at every introduction.

At most 3 new guys on the roster worth retaining next year. I am hedging here because the identity of those 3 changes week to week. For example Stewart would have been a lock 2 weeks ago but he’s shooting poorly again and doesn’t have much value otherwise. Carr would have been out because of his play for several games but he’s played fairly well the last 2 games.

A middling class coming in next year including a JUCO kid who has been recently suspended.

A junior transfer guard from St. John’s (perennial losing program) coming in who isn’t a good shooter and doesn’t appear to do anything else well.

Outside perception has to be that the Pitt program is in the dumpster. It doesn’t look good to recruits (football too), fans or media.
