  1. This game is beyond ugleee. I never could have imagined that we would be completely outclassed by Towson. The ACC season is going to set us back years and sadly I believe that we will br the laughingstock of FBS basketball.

  2. PITT has a couple decent shooters but when they get cold forget about it. 1 of 16 from 3 point land or something like that? Most of them were good looks. Youth I guess?

  3. Call me crazy but this team has some potential. Three point shot not going down tonight. Maybe even win some ACC games next year 2019.

  4. Peace definitely brings defense. Stewart looking good also. An offseason of lifting is what these guys needs. Hopefully the JuCo guard coming in is a good prospect.

  5. Looks like Wilson-Frame is back to being ice cold shooting. Surprised to see Carr with only 2 points.
    1-16 shooting 3’s. Yikes…

  6. Watching the game. Is Dick Groat still alive? Is there any other team in college BB who have two announcers with an average age of 78?

    1. It is embarrassing these two guys are still working. Go be with your family and fart and fall asleep in your recliner. Not to mention they are bad announcers.

  7. If you came to the games instead of sitting at home being a naystayer will see Groat still here. He still knows more about bb than most of the posters here will ever know

      1. Emel, on face value I would absolutely agree with you. PITT should never be underdogs at home against a Towson team. However, PITT lost their leading scorer, leading rebounder and overall team leader to an injury and start 4 freshman against an experienced team receiving votes in the polls. .

Towson being the favorites was not a fluke.

I said it before, This team has the it factor. They are fun to watch and like a train wreck, hard to look away from. It’s a fun group of kids, I enjoy.

I like you Emel and have much respect, I just like this team and the head coach is who he is. meh.. iek

  9. The 9-2 Bonnies are beating 10-1 Cuse with their mature line-up 53-50. Fact is there’s a lot of good BB players out there. This isn’t like 20-30 years ago when these games were guaranteed.

  10. Nice comeback by the kids tonight, win or lose. Just the opposite of the last game. Brown with 12 off the bench. Towsen 1-13 from 3. Good thing for that though….

      1. Towson wound up 1-15, Pitt 7-28. That’s a lot or 3’s to chuck up though. That’s how we’ll win a couple ACC games this year. If thry’re dropping….look out.

    1. Steve h. Just talked to Skerry. Stallings completely out coached him in the second half. He let Towson press Pitt and took his time breaking it. Towson was dead on their feet after getting manhandled by Oakland.

Towson w dead legs, couldn’t throw a ball in the ocean. Went 1-17 from the floor.

Pitt has a better team than I thought w a bunch of guys who play hard and want to win. Brown getting valuable minutes inside. He will be a player when we get our big guy back.

      H2P nice win

  11. Too bad for those of you that hate our coach so much that you can’t get behind this Pitt BB team because they may not be blue chippers but these players are fun as hell to watch and very easy to root for…H2P!

    1. Is Towson D 1? I love we are excited beating a team I’m not even sure what state they come from.

Stallings makes 2.4M He should win 23 games a year.

Towson U is actually a big university. Betcha over 20,000 enrollment.

  13. Hopefully Brown plays like that the rest of the year. Could have a better inside game when Luther comes back. Got to cut down on the stupid turnovers

  14. Sloppy basketball by both teams. Towson was ice cold tonight. I will admit that I am surprised that we pulled this one out of the hat. The good thing about this kind of game is that it teaches our kids to hang tough and not to quit when they are behind. Size of the crowd would probably fit in a high school gym 😟

  16. At least there was no traffic after that one. Still can’t believe we won.
So many turnovers, so many missed threes, so many fouls, what was the technical by the way?

The encouraging thing is the kids have a lot of individual talent.

Just really young and sloppy. Ball movement is getting better and they are able to take it inside.

Defense even looked a bit better today.

They do make you want to scream at the shear dumbness at times.

A Merry Christmas win for the kids tonight, and the dancers were good even with my blurred vision.

The crowd was actually better than I expected on the Friday before Christmas, the second most popular drinking day in Pittsburgh.

    1. Who the heck are you talking to tonight? If you are talking about Stallings the guy is a joke and looks like he belongs on a episode of Andy Griffith. He won’t win the 13 O/U and should be canned. How many people were there tonight? 700? Mt. Lebo draws more.

      1. Mark, you definitely moved the goal post this early in the season? I thought PITT and Otis couldn’t win 5 games this year. You are a hypocrite and wear it…..cause you do constantly change what you say..

        1. I set the O/U at 13 you goofball. That was set in Football season for God’s sake. Don’t get mad you forgot and go take some geritol. I said he would win under 13 games. You act like that is some badge of accomplishment. The team stinks and he makes 2.4M. When he beats ACC teams let me know and when he exceeds 13 games. You getting excited about beating Townson further emphasizes my point. The Pete had 700 people. Basketball is hemorrhaging money Ike. Worship Rockports all you want he is a tired old shoe that was being fired from Vandy. He is outcoached every game and he recruits like he is at Gannon.

            1. Upitt was seduced by the Darkside as a small child. His view of the world has been slanted accordingly ever after apparently..

His slam dunk technique of finding the negative in everything assures him a consistant dominant stance in his predominant naysayer attitude, since there are always shortcomings in all individuals, organizations & institutions. It’s an easy mark to point out such vulnerabilities.

In his mind that’s just being realiatic. Unfortunately as most realize however, adhering to such a dark mantra really eliminates the satisfaction one can enjoy when observing the daily struggle of us fallible human beings during our imperfect human existence.

As any successful mountain climber will tell you, it’s the clmb that they remember most, not the brief moment spent on the summit. The lasting satisfaction always comes from the struggle.

Last night this young Pitt team struggled big time, but still succeeded in grabbing a W. Good for them, they earned it. Hail to Pitt.

  21. Guys, they were really, really bad. That was a terrible game on all sides. Lack of fundamentals, just awful. Obviously best thing was they won, but come on, they stunk. Turnovers, shooting, I’m just afraid how bad it will get. I expect a team to play hard, they get no extra credit for that, nor should they. But that performance was back to the stone ages.

  25. Like I said last night, never thought they would win till it was over, such poor shooting, so many turnovers, poor foul shooting, good and bad fouls given. But you can see the individual talent and depth and they are getting better. Still don’t see them winning an ACC game unless they drain a high percentage of threes one night, and the other team is cold.. Stupid mistake can be corrected.

Overall they are better than I thought they would be, and as they gain confidence who knows…

  27. How’s the eye this morning gc, I had to wear an eye patch one time for awhile and it was no fun at all. At least PITT didn’t torture your good eye all that much last night.

PITT has better shooters then they showed last night. Plus, we can’t underestimate the loss of Luther on this years team like we could have last year. Towson is not a bad team at all especially playing against a much younger team like PITT.

  28. By the way, the AD did a great thing for the holiday break games. Since the students are home, Pitt offered Zoo tickets to high school kids for $5. Many took advantage and saw a great game. Pitt needs to use that thought process for football also.

Took my son to WVU and Towson so far. Both were super entertaining. If you are a basketball fan, go check out some games. It is an awesome facility.

  29. Really sad to feel good about a win over Towson. 😦

As much as I loved JD and the great decade, he and many others are to blame for this mess. As much as KS takes the garbage spewed at him from Upitt and others, he really doesn’t deserve much blame….yet.

Hoping for 2 or 3 wins in the ACC and Luther back healthy will help. I would consider THAT a success and then something positive on the recruiting front would give me hope for this team in 2 years to be competing again where they should.

    1. Nobody short of Jesus who you could pay anything from 0 dollars up to 24 million dollars per year could have made Pitt win “now”. And maybe not even Him.

But keep up the good work Upitt. I would seriously love to see you in Heather’s shoes, figuratively, definitely not literally. LOL!!! Maybe you can ask KS for the shoe consultation.

Kidding buddy, I do love you, occasionally. 🙂

With his Pitt gig, Steeler gig, jazz gig, Bowling for Dollars, and who knows what else, Billy Hillgrove is becoming a legend on the level of Bill Brasky, I tell ya…

“Hillgrove once punched a hole in a cow just so he could see who was coming up the road.”
