Comment: Allstate Provides Fans with Fun Tailgate Experience and a Chance to Win a Trip to the National Title Game

WHAT: The Allstate Tailgate Tour, an interactive fan experience visiting college football stadiums across the country, is heading to Pitt this week as the Panthers takes on the UNC Tar Heels on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

At the tailgate, fans can take part in a variety of family-friendly games, relax in the lounge area and enter an on-site sweepstakes to win a replica helmet from the home team. 

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit is helping Allstate bring fans together off the field for the sake of good through Allstate’s #sweettalk initiative. Throughout the season, fans are encouraged to join the conversation by using #sweettalk to say something nice about an opponent for a chance to get a shout-out from Herbstreit himself. At the tailgate, fans can also participate in the #sweettalk video confessional for that same chance. 

Everyone who trades smack talk for sweet talk via the video confessional or on social media using both #sweettalk and #sweepstakes will be entered for a chance to win a trip to the National Championship!

  2. The Archie’s idea does sounds pretty cool. The one thing I cannot tolerate is people around me not paying attention to the game. I’ll probably be huddled in my game-room muddering to myself and avoiding my good friends comments like: “This team stinks” after the very first play.

    As usual, Lyke was in the room for that quick but not-so-subtle callout. She also spoke Monday at the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club in Canton, Ohio, where she grew up.

    According to The Repository newspaper in Canton, she again talked of trying to build a championship culture at Pitt and called a contract proposal to renew the football series with Penn State after 2019 “very close to being done and being sent to Penn State.” She also gave a glimpse into some possible plans for altering the football environment.

  12. And on the topic of Larry Fitzgerald….my favorite Pitt Panther of all time. A first ballot NFL Hall of Famer, and a Hall of Fame human being. The theft of his Heisman by Jason White disturbs me to this day.

  20. Interesting. Last night I attended a town forum sponsored by the PG and PNC at The Heinz History center. It’s subject was where Pittsburgh would be in 2025. Had banker, county exec, tech people. Reason this is interesting is that in the past 12 days there have been over 10 billion in new projects. They also said by 2025 Pittsburgh would be in the top 3 metro areas for youngest populations as well as the no. 1 for best educated!! All remarked what a major change this was from 10 yrs ago when we were the second oldest pop.
    Also, Pittsburgh is taking over the tech. capital from NY and Boston. Won’t compete with Silicon Valley for software tech, but more hardware and large tech.( single big tech, whatever that is). Crushing the south in this amount of money and companies coming in. Reason companies are moving here is that we contracted so much over the past 3 decades we can accommodate the crush of people better than any metro area.
    Now, as it relates to Pitt, they raved about the role Pitt and CMU play. They spent considerable time talking about transportation and infrastructure improvements and plans, and also that the room exists in the city to build, over 13000 vacant plots.
    For those of you who have moved away, and for even me, a resident, it was quite the eye opener. Also how the city is unique because it does not fit into any specific geographic region, not east, not mid west etc. Tech companies love this apparently.
    As this demographic changes so will the university. Really, really, interesting stuff on the city and university’s future.

    1. this is all very good … and is consistent to a handful of articles I have read over the past several months, including the importance that Pitt and CMU play in Pgh’s future.

      Not sure how big an impact it will have on Pitt athletics but it certainly can’t hurt
