Some More POV Golf Outing Stuff

As we wrote earlier the golf outing was a ton of fun… so here are some photos to look at until some of the other attendees send me their photos of the event (my cell phone camera skills leave a lot to be desired…)

First off the 1st and 2nd place teams were  Fran Lokar (Lastrowinsection4) and three friends who were 3 under par.IMG_20170414_150954436

Second place tie with Richard Tencza (Richman) with three friends and Randy “JoeKnew” and two friends at 2 under par.
Here is one of our four teams of golfers on the right. They didn’t win but may have had the most fun of all… from left to right they are Erie Express (Rick Caldwell), Jay91 (Jason Smith), MajorsMajors (John Fredland) and Dan72 (Dan Davis).
All Pitt fans of the finest kind.  As you can see this is one of the tee signs Erie Express had made up for the course.  There were a few other and one had the Grassroots logo in the bottom right corner to go along with the POV eyes.

Rick (Erie) was the workhorse of the event and between he and Fran Lokar (lastrowofsection4) they had everything set up and the POV golfers out to the links in a timely fashion.

Here is the Prizes Table with goody-bags, auction items and some POV items for the golfers to grab on their way out.  The star of the show was Jason Smith’s (Jay91) donation for auction the autographed “Ditka” uniform jersey.  That went for a very nice chunk of change and was so very generous of Jason to do.  BTW – that is what Jason does for a living – sports memoribilia, sports autograph conventions, framings and such so if you are interested drop me a line and I’ll give you his contact info.

See all those friggin’ bags I put together the night before the outing… I worked on it too!

Here is one of the four tables that Quicksilver set up for us for the post-golf & bar festivities… that football is a smaller sized version of an NFL one and this is what it looked like Footballat the end of the day:

I had everyone who attended autograph it  so that we can auction it off online… so here goes: starting bid is $20 by Reed Proceeds will go to the POV Upkeep fund and thank you!

We are absolutely going to do this again next year. Let’s hope the Spring Game in 2018 is not on Easter weekend so that we’ll have even more than 22 POV’s get to partake.

I have been discussing a mid-season dinner/party in Pittsburgh on a Friday evening before one of our home games. The POV will rent a nice room in a top-shelf restaurant, get some money up on the bar, have good 11826bd20164ee872a1724aa5704fea7food, good friends and auction off more items like we did last weekend.

BTW – it looks like the all of the guys attending the Golf Outing will have been able to donate between $300-$400 to the Grassroots Homeless Day Resource Center when the final accounting is finished (I made the split heavier on the Grassroots side).

Give me your thoughts 20170418_155018and ideas and please don’t hesitate to bid on that POV’ers signed ball -it is definitely one of a kind folks…!!

  1. Just for the record Erie and Reed did all the heavy lifting on the Golf Outing…I just helped a bit once I got to the course. And the course was in fabulous shape…as was the beer cart girl. Seriously. H2P and Lets go Pens.

  3. Jester Weah could be the he best DB coach on the field!! 6’5″ with world class speed..the DBs have to cover him everyday in practice.. this will translate into improved coverage on the field this year.. just wait n see !!!

  4. Thanks PITT- cocksfan…I should break out the incense, black light and Jimmy Hendrix/Janus Joplin/ Jim Morrison poster and roll a doobie ( that’s how I picture the “Dark One” but instead I am having a celebratory Manhatten and patting myself on the back on my successful 🚀 launch…

  5. BigB, I want to meet you more than Reed after your last post about Darkie. Although you may want to throw in The Ramones, that’s The Dark Nights, darker side. You can hear his cries… He wants to be sedated!

  10. Thanks to Rick, Fran, Big B, Reed and everyone affiliated with the POV golf outing – it was great!! Thanks Shamus, without you we would have not have come in a close last and nice golfing with Shamus and Jamie. Nice to meet all of you. Trying to get She Who Must Be Obeyed to attend the V Tech game.

I couldn’t make the spring game but McVattie’s less than awesome performance was not a great shock. in an article before the game he stated his biggest assest was his running ability – maybe he will ultimately play elsewhere, who knows.
    HAIL TO PITT

  12. Will have the Roundtable video up by 11:00 am. Then I’m taking part in a conference call with Jon Gruden about his QB Camp with Nate Peterman. ..

Anyone have specific questions I can ask Gruden?

    That should be interesting.

  13. I would be curious to know if Gruden thinks Nate will become a starter or does he envision Nate as a career backup QB.

  14. I’d like to hear his opinion on Peterman’s long ball potential. By that I mean arm strength & accuracy on long throws over 30-40 yards.

  15. ike’s predictions:

    Regular season record…..9-3

Final season record……..10-4 (yes, they play for the ACC championship)

Ben Dinucci will be the backup to start the season and he will throw a TD during the season.

Moss will lead the team in rushing with 650 yards and he will also lead the RB’s with 9 TD’s

Aston will lead the team in catches with 46, otherwise the leader of receivers will be Weah 44 catches and 10 TD’s

Wirginis will lead the team in tackles with 83

Blair will be the sack champ with 6 and 1/2 sacks

PITT will average exactly 30 pts per game

PITT’s defense will give up an average of 26 pts per game

The pass defense will be much improved due to a more control offense and just better DB play. They will drop the opponents average to exactly 280 yards per game.
